It is time for Movie Club nominations!

I've already been yelled at here for how I feel about this but I still feel the same way and getting yelled at for repeating myself isn't going to make me feel a damn bit different.

After consideration, I have decided for this round to not allow HBO Go streams. Next round, I think I will either allow them OR allow movies that are available for rent on Amazon or iTunes.

I always thought it was perfectly understandable that she would end up convincing herself it wasn't real--the same year that Peter went to live with Diggory and Edmund and Lucy went back to Narnia with Eustace, Susan was alone in America with their parents. It didn't seem fair to me that they judged her so harshly when she was the only one who wasn't completely surrounded by Narnia again.

I had a teacher that had an artificial eye - her thing when starting a new year with a new class was to 'accidentally' have it pop out on the first day. Quite the introduction.

oh it's absolutely a literary fuck you to atheists. no question. Lewis was writing the heaviest of handed "allegories" so that if you didn't pick up on Jesus Allegory Lion all along well now you know where it's going.

unlike some novels, it's incredibly difficult to divorce any of the literary quality of the Narnia books from the allegory. as christianity becomes increasingly less relevant to society, it's going to become even more painfully obvious and hard to swallow for anyone who isn't already a bible-thumper.

Probably ABC (the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, not the American one, to be clear). They have the sort of things I like. The SBS (Special Broadcasting Service) are up there too. They do all the foreign language TV and indie films and so forth.

I'm not watching the final. I will read a recap. And then on rewatches I will ignore season 8. Just. No. If this is the route they wanted to go, they needed to do a lot more to make it believable. So many people keep saying it was foreshadowed, and sure, maybe. But that's not the same thing as believable character development. They needed to make it gradual. Going from only targeting legitimate targets to suddenly being totally cool with civilian casualties? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm not sure I've been this angry about the end of a show since How I Met Your Mother.

What's the acceptable period of time before we can say two characters dated? For straight people it seems to be one movie.

I think you had it right the first time. Jorah was obsessed with her and it was weird. In the books she's 13 when they meet. Yuck.

I liked that Daario dude. Sexy, not her nephew, just some good drama free dick and by far the best looking of the lot. I love Momoa but Drogo was gross.

Romantic love? I am genuinely asking as I haven't seen the most recent movie

I have been blessed with finding so much great manga this week and one of my fandoms is so damn chill. People are just posting art and fanfiction and there's no drama at all and it is so utterly fantastic and it serves as a reminder that, yes, fandom can be fun and peaceful.

Finally was able to see it. And you know, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The plot summary made the parts I hate seem like they were a bigger part of the movie than they were? I still hate the ending. I still have some serious problems. I still think the time travel explanations don't make any sense. But I still really enjoyed it. The final battle was great. And there were quite a few really great scenes. And Nebula was awesome.

I don't think it was morally wrong but I think it was a little chickenshit, and it bothers me when people overstate how much she actually did do.

yeah, it's like a fic writer headcanon - it's there, in the writer's head as a character's background, and it doesn't /need/ to be in the text.
