145. That happened with my French, due to reading French manga over the summer, and with English due to videogames and especially fandom... not fanfiction, but interacting with fans on forums. I had a very specialized vocabulary, of course. I knew a lot more words for death and killing and fighting than my classmates. <3
Seriously, it doesn't matter what, but you can just learn languages better when you have a reason, something to use it for.

Politely disagreeing with the 'she didn't do anything for Simon,' though. I think her believing in him, and insisting this, and giving him something to DO, for example: saving her multiple times, gave him more confidence etc. Also, when she TELLS him to be himself, not anyone else, etc. But I can see why you would say she didn't do anything, and I'm more... Mm... Saying what I think than I am disagreeing.

158. I liked Twister, but I didn't much care for the rest of the soundtrack. It wasn't awful, though. Only downloaded it for that one song/two if you count the remix.

I really don't see the need to call "Mary Sue" someone that fits a character archetype that existed from long before the term "Mary Sue" was coined. I don't really care if people hate something I like, but the word "Mary Sue" has no place in discussion. It's a lazy way to make your dislike seem more justified and that's completely unnecessary since dislike isn't something that needs to be justified in the first place.

And for me, what Nia helped Simon learn was that it was fine to "run away", she helped his "heart" rather than his confidence. Simon's confidence was always there, he just needed a reason to fight for. He needed ideals. Basically, she gave him purpose and understanding. Kinda.

101 Good for you, and also: I feel really bad for the fiscal/small government conservatives. You guys have beliefs that I can understand and that I think are important correctives to the liberals, but you're so overrun with social conservatives, who I feel are dangerous to the Republic. I wish we could have two real parties and honest debate in this country, not this bizarre polarization where part of the country wants the rest to DIAF.

161 I'm coming out of a whole period where I felt really guilty for not liking the things that people recommended to me, and I've definitely gotten to the point where I rarely if ever recommend things to other people.
