The only thing I can think, re-reading it, is that the OP doesn't want the character to be female in case it causes or justifies (more) writing of Tieria with horrible female cliches? The whole "people will use it to justify writing this character as a girl" makes me think so, because as maddening as it is, when people say that about male characters they usually mean the character is being written as a sobby, sparkly uke who wants to wear pretty clothes and just be loved by the perfect man of their dreams.

At least, that's what I saw in Tsubasa fandom, so that's how I kinda automatically read it? XD; If that makes sense. So I think it's just the OP not wanting badficcers to be encouraged to write horrible OOCness?

YES!! My sentiments exactly. I mean, I'm not knocking the writers of long fic; that's their thing and it is what a lot of people prefer to read, I guess. But there seems to be a serious shortage of well written one-shots that could be read in, say 10 to 15 minutes or so. I tend to skip over stories more than 3000 words because I just don't have time for anything longer.

105. I don't think you're wrong at all, most of them do sound awkward especially if you place them next to american animated series' and I'm not just talking about the nicktoons. But so long as you accept that there can't not be dubs in a fair and prosperous market, there's nothing wrong with finding fault in them.

105. Um, "real actors"? Anime dubs are one of the toughest acting jobs out there--and one of the lowest paying too. No, I don't think it sounds artificial. And honestly, you blew pretty much all chance of me taking your opinion very seriously when you refered to the Disney dubs as "real actors". Name recognition and a high paycheck doesn't mean that Billy Bob Thorton (ick) is more of an actor than Chrispin Freeman.
I'm not saying I DON'T like Ghibli dubs, but I don't find them that mind blowing considering what they must've paid the actors in it. The best Ghibli dub, I think, is Spirited Away--which was made by using mostly, well, voice actors!

Um. STFU until you do some research.

Also, extra tidbit? If you think the voices sound 'wrong' or 'artificial'? Thank the Japanese execs who are involved with the licensing--it doesn't get dubbed without their approval.

Also--Ghibli dubs by Disney? They don't have to work by such a strict deadline to get the lines done--which, by the by, is recorded EXACTLY the same as the US anime dubs (meaning, the 3-beep method).
