Eva was not what I'd call good, and almost completely assassinated Shinji's character (I haven't seen the others). And why does everybody speak so slowly? It makes it sound as if they're reading the script to a mentally challenged audience.

When in doubt, Yun Kouga always draw her girls with boobs and Romi Park usually do male roles, but I think it was intentional to guess Regene's sex by using Park. But Kouga doesn't usually draw girls less feminine in that way, if you will and Regene got a slender but obviously masculine build and flat as flat.

RE: finding het and/or gen fans in almost any fandom. Yes, they exist, but the bigger the fandom is, often the harder it is to find and connect up. And when it comes to general fandom discussions, the weirder you look. Hell, at cons I'm looked down on for not wanting yaoi doujin for the fandom I'm most active in. I got a bizarre look from a doujin shopkeeper in Japan when I asked for a "ren-ai" doujinshi for that same fandom (pure romance, love; a term often used for het relationships in manga and drama). And I get people asking me all the time why I don't go to YaoiCon.

It's assumed that if you're into anime/manga fandom and have a pair of tits, you must like men fucking each other. I'm just not into it, so that (according to the bulk of certain fandoms) means there's something WRONG with me!

I kind of agree with the OP here. I'm not saying that the stories that have been written so far suck; not at all, just that I haven't found one yet that's really sharp and well-written, the kind of of story that sticks with you and instantly becomes a fandom classic. I'd love to see some stories like that.

This is pretty much what I was trying to say, in a much more eloquent fashion than I was able to put across. I'm not by any means saying that the current writers for the Merlin fandom are horrible and are the worst fic writers on the planet, I've just noticed a lack of incredibly well-written, memorable fic - the stuff out there is okay, but not fantastic. It's not making me rave about how amazing it is. So far, nothing out there is something I would rec as being brilliant and worth reading for all Merlin fans. It's simply at the level (and in a few cases, under the level) and not leaping above it.

Disney dubs are higher quality because they have the money to pay for A-list actors. That doesn't mean other VAs aren't "real" actors. Some of them have done work in TV shows and theater.

I don't really get your comment about "delivering a third of a line to a beep." Whenever I saw some kind of behind-the-scenes thing they always said the whole line after the beep. And the beeps are so their lines synch with the lip flaps. Also, Disney does things the same way IIRC.

But I agree that some dubs sound very artificial. Now a days, most dubs are decent, and some are really good, but some are so awful. D:

I've seen a lot of Jun/Aiba fics actually, but then again, I don't usually look for Arashi fic so I don't exactly know what's popular. It's actually very surprising that they'd usually leave Jun out since it's well, it's Jun.

I'm of the opinion that every Arashi fic should just be a group orgy and leave it at that.

(and hey, you're still far better off than KAT-TUN fic which is 98% Akame, and 2% everything else. :/)

105. "Real actors?" Yeah, um, obnoxious much? And while I do like the Ghibli dubs, some of them are even iffy to me. Princess Monoke? Blah, aside from possibly Minnie Driver. Honestly, dub actors don't get nearly as much credit as they should, and it's usually because of people like you who aren't smart enough to realize they're just as real, and work just as hard as the actors that actually show up in front of the cameras.
