Of the 3 parking lots right near the immigration courthouse, 1 only takes cash and the other 2 were closed. The street parking was closed for construction. Because I didn't have cash (was asked at the last minute to cover the hearing after my dentist appointment this morning), I had to drive several blocks to find a place to park and then walk.

Also, turns out that my dentist thinks my jaw pain is from teeth grinding/jaw clenching given there is some wear on my teeth. Not surprising given how stressed I've been honestly. We're going to do a mouth guard for the night, but I don't know how to deal with the fact that I do it during the day too.

Finally, I really don't like Biden. And it looks like I'm going to have to vote for him. I think he's a step backwards. I think he's wrong for this country. I think people are voting for him because he was Obama's VP even though Obama picked him to pick to the more conservative side of the party. And I also think he's kind of sexist (not Trump level, but he's just an older man who has not updated himself and isn't really aware) and even a bit racist. He's not what this country needs and I don't know if people can get excited enough for him for him to beat Trump. Ugh.

Re: Vent thread

From what I've heard, Biden's doing particularly well with voting blocs that the Democrats really need to come out-suburban voters (who had gone for Trump last time), African-American voters, and I've even heard a couple people talk about how they've had co-workers who voted for Trump say they'd support Biden if he's the nominee (and if it were Bernie, they'd stay home). So that's why a lot of people seem to think he's the best option at this point.

I agree he's not going to excite the youth vote, but they don't tend to show up in big numbers anyway. And he's not my first pick, either-frankly, I find it sad that a field that started off so diverse has come down yet again to two old white men duking it out. But if he can manage to siphon away some of Trump's base, and get a lot of independent voters and whatever remaining moderate Republicans might exist coming on board, then that could bode very well for our chances come November.

Plus, we don't know yet who he might pick for his VP. There's been a few really good names floating around, and if he picks the right person for that role, that could go a long way towards helping entice more voters as well.

I'm also looking at it in the sense that I wouldn't just be voting for Biden. I can at least be assured he'd hire people for important positions that were experienced and knew their stuff. I can be guaranteed that he'd pick good federal judges, and would support decent SC judges as well.

And I also want people to pay attention to the down-ticket races as well. 'Cause frankly, we could have the most progressive presidential candidate imaginable, but that won't matter if the Senate stays red, 'cause they'll do their damndest to stonewall all their efforts. We need to turn the Senate in our favor, and try and keep the House as well. So I"m looking at this vote on an all-encompassing level, and I think that's how a lot of other voters should try and see it as well.

Totally agree with everything you said! An old white conservative* man is not what this country needs. But anyone/anything is better than Trump, so I can only hope he picks a really good VP that can maybe run in four years (since he's said he won't run for a second term), or if not, that gives four years to find somebody good to run in 2024.

The good thing is that all the liberals I know have vowed to vote for anyone who's against Trump, and I've heard a couple anti-Trump conservatives say recently that they'll vote for Biden, so even though he's definitely not exciting, I'm hoping enough people will realize that Trump is bad enough that anyone would be an improvement.

*which Biden is, I don't care which party he's in

Biden definitely wasn't my first choice (I voted Sanders), but if he's on the ticket in November, I'll vote for him. I did it for Hillary and I'll do it for him. Because in the short term, I'd like to maximize chances that there will not be four more years of the orange sack of shit.

If you have concerns about Joe's chances, take a look at various states' primary results. Not just the delegates but the actual totals. A lot of blue happened, even in several swing states. It's true a lot of states are torn between Biden and Sanders, but it just seems to me that so many people are sick of the orange turd that they will come out in large numbers to a primary and NOT vote for him. And that's important to note.

Whoever gets the nomination though... to anyone voting blue, please, for the love of God, no spite voting (because we all know how well that turned out last time...yeah, I'm looking at "my" group here). And stop pissing on other candidates' supporters, because you need them and they need you this November. The red side knows it, and loves it when we fight.

Coworker who came to work sick. We work in a hospital. We have vulnerable patients. We HAVE COVID-19 PATIENTS!

We also have pretty much unlimited sick time (you'll get put on an 'attendance watch list' if they think you're abusing it) but basically as long as you're full time, if you're sick, fucking don't come to work.

I've turned 30 a month ago and friends the same age are acting like they're still teenagers having really dumb fights that don't need to happen. Its worse when they try and drag me into it to take a side and I'm just too damn old to be dealing with this right now.

I feel you. While I'm in my 30s as well, I am the youngest in my circle of friends and the still manage to have fights like teens. And looking the the people my parents know (60s++) that won't stop with an even higher age, if anything, it gets worse.

Ugh, that sucks. I sympathize-I've got a few friends that still like to have all this ridiculous drama despite being in their 30s, too. I very much get the "I'm too old for this shit" feeling.

I hope your friends can get over their issues eventually, and I hope you can find a way to avoid being dragged into their crap.

I plan to send one last private message to an artist I commissioned over two and a half years ago and who has ignored me (and a lot of other people) since then. I'll give her one last chance to refund me or I'm going to publicly post about her scamming me. I'm just so fucking done with this. She just opened commissions again a few days ago and seeing people falling all over themselves to get a spot and throwing money at her really made my patience snap. The only reason I didn't ask her directly under that commissions tweet "So does that mean you'll finally be able to refund me?" is because I don't fancy being mobbed by her fans for "bullying" her.

Ugh that sucks. I'm sorry she flaked on you, and I'm sorry her fans are defending her and bullying people who are calling her out on her failure to refund or produce art she owes people.

Ugh, I commissioned someone like two years ago and they haven't delivered, and I just can't decide whether or not to pursue it.
One time I commissioned someone to write some fic for me, didn't hear anything for six months, and when I checked their tumblr, they were offering commissions! >:(

Do it. Like that's complete bullshit what you went through, and you'll be saving a lot of people both a lot of embarrassment and cash in the process.
Make sure you have some of the original messages handy and the dates to go with them if you have them, no doubt her fans will try to call you a liar or some crap, so get all the proof you can get your hands on to shut them up quick

I'm grateful that my job is making us work from home because I know it's the right safety measure, and I'd much rather be inconvenienced and bored than sick... but FUCK this is inconvenient and boring. I work so much better when I can communicate in person and don't have all the distractions of being at home. And I'm sick of being cooped up inside. I want to be able to go out and do things again. I feel selfish for being so grouchy about it, but I was on the verge of tears the other day.

That sounds rough. I'm sorry. Can you talk to management about at least communicating on Skype? Not in person I know, but maybe it would help a little since you could have a video? Can you still go out when you aren't working? Or is where you are living on quarantine? I'm sorry things are so miserable for you right now and I hope it gets better soon.

I tend to be the person who "goes with the flow" but the older I get, I realize I never grew out of being a coward who doesn't like conflict. I'm disgusted by it. I don't stand up to friends when I hear them saying what sounds like crazy privileged or fake woke shit, even after the stunned feeling wears off. It takes me forever to report an obviously abusive home situation to CPS (not mine) and even when I get told "nothing we can do about it" I just accept it and stop. I have no power and no influence for good positive things. My gauge is fucked when it comes to personal space and people bulldozing over me with whatever runaway thought they have at the moment, no matter how offensive or misinformed. I know a lot of this is due to my own abusive upbringing, but I've tried my damnedest to break out of it and be normal (or as normal as I can possibly be). I know I can't change the world by myself (because that would be unrealistic) but I at least want to be able to stand up for something or even myself and be actually fucking proud that I did. I can have a bajillion fantasies where I'm the hero, but it doesn't reflect reality. I'm just a coward.

I'm very tired of everyone trying to spread awareness of problems that nobody is ever going to be willing or able to fix. I always knew that I was tired all the time, but now I know it doesn't have to be that way if only we could abolish capitalism, but we're never going to abolish capitalism so now we've depressed ourselves with the knowledge that we could be living better lives but it'll never happen.

I'm the one capslocking about the Utah Jazz over in the entertainment news, and I literally just remembered that the Raptors is one of the teams they played against recently. I adore the Raptors, but my one true loves forever and always with be my beloved Toronto Maple Leafs... who share the same building as the Raptors... and who had a home game against the Lightning just TWO days ago!! (sorry Mishey, they've got it too;;)

!FUCK! I love the NHL! They better not cancel the season, I will be pissed!

If any of my beautiful gold hearted Leafs get sick, I will personally drive down to Utah get myself infected just to bitchslap the bastards ass who got his dumb ass sick!!

Like hell! It's just the fucking flu! THIS IS NOT THE APOCALYPSE! STOP RUINING EVERYONES FUN GODDAMNIT WITH BULLSHIT PARANOIA! AGHH!!!

Re: Vent thread

It is not "just the fucking flu", it's a global pandemic that's at least ten times more deadly than the flu and it's not "bullshit paranoia" meant to ruin anyone's fun. Don't listen to Trump or right wing propaganda.

My Boss: "Hey, you've had 6 sick days in the last twelve months. That's a trigger point. You're on a written warning. Any more time off and you're facing disciplinary"

Me: "Don't worry sir, if I get the coronovirus, you'll see me slumped and dying at my desk" *Goofy salute*

My boss: "I'm not allowed to tell you do to do that, you know. I know you're joking but I've got to tell you "Put your health first, don't risk you health for this job" but really, you've got a commitment to be at your desk every day. 6 days this year is already taking the piss"

Can you believe this crap?
