Is this the first time the front secret has been deleted/recatagorized? Meh, it looks very awkward this way :/ Ah well.

101/repeat: Yes, thank you! I mean, come one, the whole thing with the Bond-girls was just way too cheesy to ever get offended by! I'm not even a big fan of the movies but I agree!

105. *high-fives*

113. Oh gee *rolls eyes* I mean, sure the proportion in communities like this is gonna be way unbalanced, but still....wow, just..wow. :|

129. I don't even know what that is, but that picture made me crack up!

133. What is that? Looks weird as hell, but I like wierd things...i must know!

136. Oh, I remember reading about that while browsing a CF community. That reminds me...I keep borrowing the book from my brother, but NEVER got around to actually starting to read it. Must....read...as sooon as I finish writing these comments, I swear...and reading other comments....and...ah, I'll start it some time tonight.

139. I don't know who that is, but that picture makes me sad. :/

141. Meh, I wouldn't bother resizing, T!B comments seem to be just as noticed as regular comments to me *shrugs* Hell, I don't even remember that it was originally T!B

145. I have to admit, that attitude does annoy me. A lot. They're. Just. Fictional! Ack, there's waaay too much hype about smoking anyway. -_-

DIW 1. Ah, don't worry, just....you'll get there eventually.

DIW 6. HAHAHAHA, that is too awesome....and I thought some of MY IM sessions were funny! XD

105 - Same here. Prop 8 fucking ruined my ability to fully enjoy Obama's victory, and goddammit, I thought we were past this bullshit. =\

140 - Um. Sorry hon, but no. It wasn't. It really, really wasn't. That said, there weren't many well developed relationships on that show, which is why I'm so glad a fanbase exists. I detest the way Maiko was written in canon, and am certain that if it had been handled by one or two of the fans I've seen around on the net, it would have been much more palatable.

Then again, I really just kinda wish S3 had been as good as S2. Great romances don't matter worth a damn if the story doesn't make sense anymore.

YES. Granted, I might like the movies a bit better if they had subtitles so I could actually understand what was going on since I cannot get the volume up high enough to even hear the dialogue, but STING IN A FABULOUS WINGED MANKINI IS AMAZING. And hilarious and just... Yeeeah.

Say what now?

If you feel obligated to tolerate such horrible entertainment because of religion I can't even how much TV you must spend your life watching.

(Anonymous) 2008-11-18 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Same here, except for that last bit. It didn't really teach me anything I was afraid to ask, but the feeling of the series made me want to 'get back out there' again, really participate in life and all of that. I didn't expect a show like that to give me such a pick-me-up!

110

Aww, Dib! I practically was him when I was a kid...

[identity profile] poisontea.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
109. Okay. Let's work through this one last time, shall we?

Can character just be friends in a canon? Well, duh! Of course!

Is fandom OMG HORRIBLE WRONG for taking the chemistry and care between two friends and imagining potential for something more between it? No, and also duh!

Do friends get together/hook up/fall in love in real life? Yes, it happens to people!

Does it happen all the time? No! Do you have to fall in love with your best friend to even acknowledge that some people do? I would hope not, but apparently this idea goes right over a chunk of fandom's heads.

Shipping characters who are close friends in canon doesn't mean we believe they're banging in canon, or even that it would be good for the series if they were. We see potential and enjoy, you know, pretending. Which is what fanfiction and fanart and roleplay are. Seeing potential and pretending.

This was not directed at you, OP. Just a sort of headdesk at fandom in general for constantly making ridiculous arguments. "OMG TWO CHARACTERS CAN JUST BE FRIENDS, YOU KNOW!" Yeah, we know. Do you ("you" in general, here) know that two friends can become something more? Seems like not. Argh.

113. Well, look who's a fucking ridiculous, sexist ass! Moving right along because you do not even deserve the time my disgust takes. Looks like you're a little too shallow for logical thought, hon.

116. I can get behind this secret and fully encourage you in your future Vimesishness. Impossible or not. :|bbbb

124. AHAHA. Oh, man, that sorta wins. |D

131. ... what.

132. Not at all related to the secret itself, but that is an amazingly pretty shot. *^*

133. Oh, god. That shot's kinda freaking ME out and I haven't seen the movie or even heard much of anything at all about it. D:

136. Then you're a piece of shit. Congrats. I don't care if you and a bunch of people don't want to have children, but the moment you start encouraging murder and forcing your views on other people, you deserve all the scorn you get.

140. Why do I think this was made especially to start wank?

141. I still say that whether that turned out to be true or not, that character looks awesome. |D

143. I dunno, he's pretty hot~

145. Oh, god. You know, even a few decades ago? All the "OMG SMOKING IS BAD FOR YOU!!!" stuff wasn't that widely accepted. People pretty much thought it was a huge exaggeration for a long time, even like, twenty years ago. Misinformation and not knowing as much as we do now, or even making a mistake as a kid and getting hooked, should not automatically lead to thinking of that character as simply pitiful.

Also, if you're gonna make an exception for Holmes, you're gonna have to also keep in mind that he did heroin cocaine too, which I'm pretty sure was known to be bad fucking news even at the time. So now do you only see him as pitiable and weak and lose your respect? Sheesh.

147. That is an awesome use for cookie fortunes if ever there was one! ♥♥

not!fandom #1: ... I think this might be a fandom secret, actually, even if it's a very vague reference. Amalie, maybe? :x

doing-it-wrong #1: Maybe TMI, but I've never had any problem. It doesn't usually happen fast, which makes fanfiction a little misleading, I think. Also, it varies from person to person how easily you get off/what the odds of you orgasming/what can lead you to orgasm are.

doing-it-wrong #3: I think if anyone accuses you of being a lesbian when you have no interest in having sex with a female and girls don't get you off doesn't know how sexuality works, anyway. Also, I don't think either of those guys look like girls. (:

doing-it-wrong #7: Oh, man, I know that feeling. DX The first part, I mean. I feel pretty fucking cheated when I at least make a slight effort to check out things my friends love, but with some of said friends, I can mention two sentences about 99% of the things I like and they get these plastic smiles and are like "oh... that doesn't really sound like my kind of thing. Sorry." asjkhfakjfagkjfgsakf DAMN, PEOPLE. >/

You have no idea how many people I have told to play this game how much I have ranted about its greatness and complexity. I have praised absolutely every aspect of this game and so far i have only played the opening level of MGS4. i died very quickly i can't work the camera I can't walk and look where I want o at the same time... however I have watched every last bit of game play as my brother played it (who i convinced to buy the first 3 just so I could watch him play them). The even worst part of this is that the only reason, honest to god i even got into this fandom is because the game came with the PS3 my brother bought and i sat down and watched him play, looking up help hints on the internet for if he got helplessly lost. I didn't fully understand the character origins even though i immediately looked them up when I realized this was more than just another war game.

this game makes me wish I was a better gamer just so i could properly experience the fandom. i feel like a complete poser.

110: Actually, it's a common enough interest that there are probably two or three in any decently-sized school. But yeah, it's hard to find each other until high school.

129: Man, dude needs to eat a sandwich or something. I mean, he's not heavy or anything now, but I keep forgetting just how skinny he used to be.

130:Both the song and the scene in the book will now do that to me without the animation. I'm not sure if it's just that potent, or if I'm so thoroughly imprinted on the sequence that any sufficient reminder will set me bawling. But. Um. I actually witnessed my first death this summer, and honestly, my first thought on seeing the still-breathing-because-of-the-ventilator almost-corpse was that the Black Rabbit had already come and gone - we'd missed the important part. I don't know why that particular metaphor for Death was the one that made sense for me in that moment, but there it was.

[identity profile] arcadiaego.livejournal.com 2008-11-18 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
136: Wait, I thought Childfree meant 'I don't want to have children', not 'I want pregnant women shot dead.' (Never mind the fact that her consent to the sex may have been up for discussion, given the circumstances.)

It does! But then some assholes have to prove how "hardcore" they are and ruin it.

Fics and art of the two them are out there. there's a young avengers community on live journal. Fic and art of them out number the fic and art of the others, with Tommy as a distant second place. (it's sad really, Kate's the best character)

Maybe your search fu is broken.

I HATED this movie. I was expecting something different. I admit that the concept was a little unique in the sense that it wasn't the typical hack and slash film, but it was only creepy in the "BOO!" type of way. I mean, there were so many moments that made me roll my eyes. (Eg. the guy comes home to a freaked out girl saying there was a man in the house, and instead of freaking out, he says, "You're just imagining things." Uh-huh. Because that's how I'd react to someone who was that hysterical. For a while there I thought maybe it was a psychological thriller then (like psychological disorder type), but no. It was just random people doing random things.) In any case, I left the movie theater very angry, not scared. Not because the movie sucked, but because the strangers really irritated me. I was so mad at them that I didn't have room to be scared.

114 - okay, I don't know why you ship them (is there some backstory I need to be aware of?) but I hate to admit it - dexterboy is kind of hot. a little gay seeming, but hot. not that gay people can't be hot. I mean, that tea drinking clip? I felt like I was intruding on some private moment between lovers, sheesh. (wait, IS he gay?) anyway. he has very sexy hands. just the way I like them. well, that concludes my fangirl moment. is there anything else I need to know?

131. So there's too few Jewish comedians on TV now? o.O I mean, there's so many GOOD Jewish comics out there to watch instead of her. You don't need to feel obligated to watch something you don't like because you share a religion/culture. Especially if it's such stupid, mean-spirited, offensive "comedy" like Silverman's. (ugh ugh ugh WHY IS SHE FAMOUS)

132. People... people CARE about Saji/Louise? I must be in the wrong part of 00 fandom, most people I've seen can take it or leave it at best, and hate it with a passion at worst. I pretty much just don't care about either of them.

146. I used to be in bandslash fandom, and now pretty much all I care about related to it is them. They're adorable. (jeez when is she going to have the baby, it feels like she's been pregnant for a year.)
