134 I don't really care about the pairings in this manga yet, but these two are OK. No problem.

not!fandom #1 LOLOL. The Beauty and the Beast? (I just remembered this movie takes place in France...but no, where I'm living, in France, candle don't talk, like everywhere in the world, sorry LOL)

I also want to believe that.

132. Why would you watch the show for them? They're not even together anymore.

I found a bit. Have you checked the [livejournal.com profile] marvel_slash community?

But now you know how I feel about looking for Eli/Kate or Tommy/Kate fic. None whatsoever. BAAAAAAW.

116. Go for it anyways! We need more awesome, can't be bought, watchers of the watchmen in this world!

Just...try not to pick up the alcoholism so much (yes he's recovered but it will save you a bit of trouble in the long run).

I am a terrible Avatar shipper, I ship just about everything. (Zutara and Kaatanng can coexist! In the same person!)

But I LOVE Mai and Zuko, I find their relationship to be the most true to life and adult. That bit where Mai says "I love him more than I fear you" to Azula? GUH. Mai went from interesting to flat out awesome.

Although I am really really happy Sokka ended up with Suki :) She can keep him in line :)

[identity profile] boombangbing.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, I've never come across someone else who didn't like Dune. I think for me it was the fact that Herbert seemed to be completely sucked in by the worlds he created to the detriment of the actual plot. That, and I found it as confusing as fuck. Never seen the movie though, I think I may have to now.

Re: 129

[identity profile] theonlytwin.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OH YES! that's what happened. he was all focused on the world he made he populated it with stereotypes. i never got why it was such a massive cult hit. the movie is crazy awesome in it's badness, it is to space opera what plan 9 is to horror movies. check it out.

106. Dude, if he's way too old, what are you, a zygote? :)

108. I love that soundtrack! Mychael Danna + DeVotchKa = sheer bliss.

116. You're cute. (And I mean that in the best, not-at-all-patronizing way.) :)

125. What does the tiny print say? "I'm a [.....], BTW" (Other than that, I'm with you.)

129. NAKED STING DO NOT WANT.

144. AAAAUUGH, ME TOO. It was the "~40-y-o made to dress like a schoolgirl" factor that bothered me the most, but also, you know, the rest of it. But reading an article with Lisa E. in which she said it was a little awkward but she ended up feeling really beautiful made it possible for me to think about the scene without cringing.

[identity profile] cereal-killer71.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
101- ABSOLUTELY YES. I'm a huge James Bond freak, and I hate when people tell me I'm promoting misogyny or whatever by watching them. So what if girls fall for him left and right and he totally treats them like objects? I like horror movies, it doesn't mean I like going around murdering people. Last time I checked, a movie doesn't have to perfectly reflect your views for you to like it.

133- Pffffft YES. A bunch of my LJ friends all posted about how stupid it was and how they laughed through it, I was scared out of my mind. Especially since I was completely alone in the theater, except for the girl I was with. I hid behind my hands for 90% of it.

105. For me, it wasn't so much the large quantity of angry comments on that secret (and the similar one following it) that made me feel better as the handful of calm, reasonable explanations of why the poster was wrong. I mean, not that I'm not glad that a lot of people are passionately against it, just... it's nice that there are people who are passionately against it and can elaborate on that further than just "YOU SUCK, GO DIE."

136. Well, thanks for reinforcing my belief that everyone who uses the term "childfree" to refer to him/herself is a dick. Seriously, I don't want children myself, and I still think the "childfree community," so to speak, is batshit.

136. I can assure you that most of us aren't. Most of us are pretty quiet about it, but then you get someone like this... Just like not all people who read manga sit in the bookstore and spill coffee all over everything, but since those are the ones you notice, that's what the image looks like.

103: There are more than six thousand people reading this comm. The vast majority neither know nor care who you are. So cheer up! It's not really obvious who the OP is.

106: Hey, don't worry: It'll never come up.

107: This is the exact opposite of a secret. "Here's why I watched a TV show: Something unremarkable."

113: Obvious troll is retarded. Or twelve. Or a retarded twelve year old.

125: Green font on a green background? Nice choice!

129: Black font on a dark background? Even better choice!

131: Next stop: Watch all shows whose executive producer is Jewish.

137: Eyestraining color choices, giant wall of text, completely uninteresting secret? We have a winner!

144: I take it you found the scene awkward enough to render it invisible. Nice!

145: You know what makes me see posters as pitiful and weak? Spelling "pitiful" as "pityful", and "lose" as "loose."

I loved The Silmarillion. It took me quite a while to get through it, but I thought it was wonderful. I couldn't believe how Tolkien had basically created an entire history of Middle Earth.

[identity profile] fruiterian.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
125. i'm pretty confident that i no longer dress horribly enough to warrant a makeover, but the way clinton and stacy feminize everyone that's on the show is hella freaky, and i would be a bit freaked out to go on, much like you. but have you seen tim gunn's makeover show? as much as i love tim gunn, he seems to make over the people there in an even more feminine manner...

134. i don't really ship much of anything bakuman-wise but i really think they make an adorable couple. [you gotta admit though, as far as slash pairings go shujin/saiko is pretty obvious (i mean they share a freaking studio away from their parents)]

[identity profile] fruiterian.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
125 [again]. i just managed to read the tiny text. and i can't imagine any makeover show in their current incarnations being able to handle a makeover of any transperson... i seriously hope your parents wouldn't consider doing that to you D:

A-W-K-W-A-R-D. D:

(I was watching with my mother, who thinks all displays of female sexuality are disgusting, so there was a lot of "Why would she want to DO?!?!?!? -- "Um, she's an ACTOR, she does what the SCRIPT TELLS HER TO DO so she can do her JOB" going on.)

113. Are you a troll or just a misandrist?

What a grand generalization of an entire gender. Certainly some men are shallow, but some women are too. And honestly, not all of the secrets here can be defined as "deep."

113. I had to get a laugh out of this. I agree. Because, what...all the 'I'd tap this' secrets are so deeeeeep, far beyond the understanding of the average person?

140. I didn't care for any of the Avatar ships (except maybe Sokka/Katara for all of two minutes when they first found Aang), but IMO Maiko made more sense than Kataang EVER did.
But I'd say that pretty much all of the romance in the series was weak =/

ME TOO OH GOD. That's like, the title sequence for Quantum of Solace? Yes I know it was objectifying with all the sexy silhouettes and all but it was SO COOL LOOKING. I know it's valid to analyze Bond in a more feminist manner, and by all means, go for it--but I don't. That whole dangerous-sex-kitten thing the Bond Girls have going on works for me--it's another archetype in a world of archetypes, and it's a hallmark of the genre at this point. At the same time, I feel like the movies have grown up, and so you have great characters like M who are female AND badass.

In conclusion: FUCK YEAH. I feel so much better now.

[identity profile] paperclipchains.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
113. Lady, you're making sweeping and unsubstatianted generalizations about half the population. I don't think you're in any position to be calling anyone "shallow." STFD.

136. Dude, that's fucked. THAT IS NOT WHAT CHILDFREE MEANS. Not wanting kids != APPROVING OF PREGNANT WOMEN BEING SHOT.

140. I also think it's the most well-thought out and best-executed ship in Avatar.

That said, that isn't really anything to be proud of. Avatar's ships aren't that great.

144. I hated that scene and I also think it was stupid and awkward
