140. Maiko is fantastic. I mean I don't even care much for Zuko but Maiko makes me tolerate him.

I wish for the same, only it's not really a secret XD ahahaha...

Banana Fish is amazing ♥

.113 Cool. I've had secrets posted and this means that, not only is my writing androgynous (which amuses me), but also helps keep my secrets secret.

Though why would I admit to posting secrets if I want them to stay secret? WTF self?

.128 Totally understandable. I even made an RP character based on GLaDOS (or rather, Portal in general)

.136 That's FUCKED UP. And I hate kids with a passion.

.143 No such thing as a bad glasses fetish ;D Calling it megane, though, is bad...

.145 I wasn't aware that tobacco wasn't a filthy, disgusting and thoroughly pointless habit in earlier times. =p

In fact there have been time periods when people believed it was good for you.

Remember, there have also been time periods when people thought bleeding, leeches and belladonna were good for you.

133. I don't understand how people don't find it scary, especially since it could happen so easily. Every time I walk out into my kitchen at night, I expect one of them to be staring back at me through the window.

I'm still afraid of the General. No lie. And I will probably name my kid Hazel. Because I love him to pieces.

102 The "I never liked RPS before but ..." secrets are my favorites. They remind me of the immortal first line of a truly good Penthouse Forum letter, "I never thought these letters were true until I found myself on a nearly-empty late night commuter flight between Dayton and Cincinnati and the stewardess leaned her 40DD's in my face, waved a joint under my nose, and said, 'Wanna make this flight a little more fun?'"

113 Funny, but untrue. I've always found geek-boy socialization to be much more regimented and intolerant of difference than geek-girl groups, and it's intolerance of difference that leads to f!s, imho.

131 What, there are no other Jews on television you're saying?

140 People totally think Maiko is deep! It is very deep! It is still waters that run deep! Those people are ridiculous!

113

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
If that's true, why are so many female posters deathly afraid of revealing their ships?

[personal profile] cleverthylacine 2008-11-17 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I was a kid in the late 60s and all thru the 1970s and all I can say is this: fuck anyone who wants to hate on Bond because it's "misogynist"--particularly the old ones, and particularly if they weren't even a ZYGOTE when those were made and have no idea what ELSE was around back then.

As a kid, growing up, I remember those movies as being some of the very few things in the world at that time that had any badass women at all. Yeah, they all ended up in bed with him, and a lot of them didn't survive the movie, but they were THERE, and they had some agency, they served to advance the story rather than being there ONLY to be eye candy or a hero's reward. Bond needed their help rather often, and frankly?

James Bond, the ORIGINAL Star Trek, the Telzey Amberdon stories and many other similar things were what gave me hope as a kid, when most of the girls I knew were reading Harlequins or nurse books. No, they're not politically correct by today's standards, although the Craig ones are very different from the Connery ones, and if you don't love Judi Dench as M you have a screw loose--but they were more female badassery than I was getting from anywhere else in the 1968 (age 4)-1977 (age 13) era of my life.

And looking back I can see how "bad" they are in some respects, but they are a product of their time and they have value in that sense, and no-one who was born after 1982 can have any idea what they MEANT to some of us who were girls back then.

101 - Just chiming in with all the other who have commented on this secret to say 'Me too!' Personally, I've always regarded the Bond movies as over the top camp and love them for it. It would be a waste of time and breath to pick apart those movies (both from a physics and sexist approach). I'd rather sit back and enjoy them!

136 - You mean the misogynistic part of you went yes. Because that's all I see there--yay for killing a woman because her reproductive choices don't match up with your own!

I have no interest in having children. I'm not a big fan of children. I don't have a lot of patience with children. I thank you for not making me look like a douche by association because you think that childfree means something it doesn't.

113. "Men are far too shallow"? Way to be sexist!

125. Buuut...the hosts always encourage the viewer to dress according to their personality! They wouldn't make you dress girly, they'd help you find tomboyish clothes you could wear that would still flatter your figure, probably.

131. Good gosh, please don't. There's got to be better Jewish comedians there.

143. Pretty character is pretty...

101 So this isn't a repeat? I remember commenting on this one before.

113 Way to gender stereotype

131 Uh, I don't. Not to mention that Jewish comedians are pretty common, so I'm sure I could find one that actually makes me laugh instead of just failing at it while trying to look sexy all the time.

132 I wish Sunrise would get the fucking shoujo out of their mecha shows, period. (You heard me right. Shoujo, not romance. There is a difference.) It's not that I don't like shoujo, either.

136 Please tell me you're fucking kidding. If not, wow, another reason to hate the fuck out of you annoying "child free" people.

145 And I think characters that smoke are cooler because they're more in touch with their own mortality and willing to take risks.

136. I can assure you that secret doesn't represent the mindset of most of us. While we don't want kids, we're not in support of killing people for having then, abusing them, or anything at all like that. Many of us even enjoy working with them, work in teaching positions, enjoy babysitting, and love to smother nieces, nephews, cousins, friends' kids, etc. with hugs and snuggles.

As a CF member myself, I'm pretty appalled by that secret.

129 - LOL WUT?

147 - Haha, great idea, actually! :D Firefly is pretty much the source of 100% of my pitiful understanding of a miniscule amount of the Chinese language. (But hey, without Firefly, it would be even less than pitiful - it would be nothing!)

not!fandom 1 - Actually, mods, that's referring to Beauty and the Beast - so yes, it is fandom-related.

And wow, that's a lot of people doing it wrong today!
