1. A lot of the "poudly bi John Wason" takes came from the early days of fandom, when there was a lot less to actively go against that characterization. By the later years, it was plenty common to see repressed, conflicted, struggling-with-internalized-homophobia John Watson characterizations. I feel like at least half the fic I read after S3 came out were that.

2. A lot of people just don't feel like writing a repressed character who is struggling with internalized homophobia. A lot of people just don't find that fun or enjoyable. So they create their own headcanon where the character is totally comfortable with their bisexuality. I feel like you could say this same basic thing about the vast majority of slash ships. It doesn't need to reflect canon; people are just writing what feels good to them.

HOWEVER, I do agree that the Johnlock shippers who were convinced that John was canonically bisexual, and got it in their heads that he had to be, because "He only ever says he's not gay, he never says he's not bi!!!" were deluding themselves.

At the same time, maybe people like the OP in the image shouldn't put themselves out there with hot takes about how something isn't representative if they *haven't* done the research.

I got so burnt out on that show by binging the seasons I hadn't gotten to right before the revival episodes. Now I've decided that Lorelai and Rory are actually kind of awful, and I have no interest in further installments.

I feel this. Knowing what his life is like in ‘Morse’ I knew that eventually things were going to go south in ‘Endeavour’ but it’s still sad to watch it happen. Especially because the mentor/father figure relationship with Thursday was so good in the earlier episodes.
