117. There is anime out there with less generic prettiness. I didn't find Trigun too cutesy-shiny, although it does use some anime artistic conventions. Some of the characters in One Piece are actually rather odd-looking.

164) I associate OTPs with the characters involved. In essence, I have one OTP per character (assuming I ship them at all), meaning there is only one other person I enjoy seeing them interact with romantically, to the exclusion of all others. This means I can not only have multiple OTPs, I can have more than one in a fandom, just not more than one for a character. I do have a few, but mostly only for characters I really care about.

169. My little brother had 5 goldfish when he was in 1st grade (he won them from those stupid school carnival games). He named them after all the Animorphs and loved them dearly. When I came home from school one day to find "Cassie" floating belly up I flushed her and told him Visser 3 had attacked her and that she died a Hero. The next day I came home to find that he had padlocked the tank shut.

I can't stand reading 99% of the fics in the fandom, much less Mac/Stella anymore because the characters are usually entirely too OOC for me to even stomach.

Mac HAS feelings, but he is not the kind to easily express them. He would not be making pet names and declaring his love for Stella or whoever else he is with.

Stella is a strong and independent woman whose ambition in life is NOT to turn into the perfect wife for Mac and have his children.

Danny is not a emo submissive wimp-- he is his own man, and will NOT just submit to the wishes of whoever he is paired with.

Flack is not a two dimensional simple guy. It's been made clear MANY times that there's a lot of hidden depth in that pretty package.

... I could go on.

TL;DR:

Bring back a quality fandom for a quality show. It used to be pretty good.

171) We don't know for sure that Devin is gay. All we know for sure is that Devin wants a piece of Lance. And frankly, I can't blame him for that; Lance is a looker. Most Gaians are. Shallow as hell, but hey, it's Gaia. If you wanted depth, you're best off looking elsewhere.

And no, Halloween '07 did NOT destroy the popular yaoi pairings by making them incest. If anything, the Gino/Louie shippers seem to be more rabid than ever.

ETA: Thought about it some more, and thumbed through the Gaia section on the Pit a little. I have seen at most ONE Devin/Lance yaoi. The fans, it seems, would rather play with the shiny half-brothers or Gambino/Edmund (and they make Edmund into a wibbly uke. EDMUND!).

I always thought of "OTP" as meaning the only pairing I like involving two particular characters, not the only pairing I like, period.

117 - There's plenty of anime out there that's NOT like that. Take "Monster", for instance. Wonderful, and I don't remember there being any fanservice in it at all (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Also, the characters are well-developed, and even the "Pretty Boy" in it flips the script.

118 - I do this sometimes, but if the bad guy is irredeemable, I can't. Bad guy HAS to have some redeemable qualities (example: I would ship Batman with Two-Face, but not with the Joker -- and that goes for comic books and movie-verse)
