You know...I thought that was weird at first, but I kinda get where you're coming from, if only because I have a VERY slashy mind. ^_^

104 Don't feel bad, that's just who you are. I think I registered pretty close to 0 on the scale as well. Honestly, I'm so heterosexual it hurts. It's not like that makes you a horrible person or anything.

107 HA! So it's not just me! I made a comment about this yesterday, actually. There can't be that many people who are having such profound emotional responses to a show that's basically a spoof of Davey and Goliath.

108 I loved Bedazzled! (And Peter Cook is the hottest Satan ever.)

109 Fuckin' WORD.

114 LOL at Japanese web design. It's terrible! And most Japanese websites look like something out of 1997. It's like they never discovered anything past basic HTML.

117 Watch eighties anime. Most series had more than one character designer to create variety and the art was just better in general. Also, there are plenty of good character designers around these days. It seems like you just aren't trying hard enough.

138 LOL, prepare yourself for the WANK. Since you've professed your dislike for one of those SACRED SERIES. And I agree that more of the countries should have been female. But then it wouldn't have as much of an appeal among fangirls (although they seem in total denial about this -- hey man, I lurk /cm/, you're not fooling me).

107

(Anonymous) 2008-12-07 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
107. The show does have episodes about things like sexual, miscarriages, dissolved marriages, alcoholism, and child neglect that are played completely straight. They really are emotionally affecting.

117. lmao. Then either look for art styles that do speak to you, or stop whining about it for the sake of wank. Honestly, it's not all one and the same art style.

Tony was just acting like he always does: like a control freak who thinks he can calculate the future. Normally he gets it right, but in this case he couldn't predict all the variables, and so things escalated out of control. So yeah, there's nothing wrong with disagreeing with him.

148. IA, she's only killing it if you let her. [Not related: What is Smeyer's body type? I haven't ever seen a full body picture of her]

149. Yugi was such a gullible tool lmao, he practically bent forward and waited for it to penetrate in that scene.

153. I wish they would stop trying to make that hat happen. It never will.

165. Randomly non-related: Sometimes when you say "I don't like Yaoi" you get jumped on for being "OMG HOMOPHOBE!11" Does anyone else find this sooo annoying?

112. AGREED. I still love the manga but I hate what the author has done on the point you mentioned. And if you're mad already then the ending is sure to peev you.

. . . I always write fic where Mashiro decides to be BOTH GENDERS.

Also. . .I find it laughable when yaoi fangirls (who ship Sou/Mashiro) don't understand the whole concept of that relationship. Especially knowing what happens at the end of the series.

112 - OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-08 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I already read what's going on since I wanted to see if it was worthy to keep on reading - even though it was making me cringe and wince so so so bad - but it's not quite peev as having a deep, ugly itch. Trainwreck Syndrome at its best, really.

I might get to read it eventually, buuuuuuut mostly because I hate leaving series unfinished.

[identity profile] nationalboner.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
148 - Oh, so that's why Supermassive Black Hole is in the movie?

Now whenever I hear that song (which I love, btw), I think of vampire baseball. Ugh.

pro-reg = pro-freedom? No. I'm pro-registration, even if the better solution would the the one in the "What If".
I'm Italian and my father is part of a military-police, so I know that my opinion is influenced by this, but... everyday there are person who fight against "the devil". And everyday they put themselves, their friends and their family in the danger near them. This their work, and their choice. Because, there is the Goblin, but here could be the local criminal boss. They are not saint, they have good paychecks, a certain job, and it's not all so heroic. But it's dangerous. And if they screw something they pay. They are taken and must pay (under military and under civic justice).
If you want to help you must took all the pros and the contras.
The Registration in the Marvel universe is not perfect (it's pretty nuts, I'm agreeing). It's not The Best Solution, but the alternatives were worse. But it's more simple change thing when you are In them.
(you approve the registration, you apply it for a while, you make some small change, you make more small change, you appoint some problems raised and in two-three months the law is so changed that at the end you find a quibble and free them all. come on guys, all our legislation works so XD "all must change so nothing would change")

129 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-07 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The alternative as in, the way things had been run for the previous 45 years of Marvel canon?

My main problem was that they framed it as a civil liberties issue, and then said that the anti-civil liberties side was right. And as an American living under George W. Bush who actually read the Patriot Act (unlike most of Congress), I got a little testy at the implications. I'll admit that this secret is somewhat of a knee-jerk reaction, and perhaps if we were dealing with real life I'd feel differently, but the way the whole thing was executed is enough to make me question anyone who takes the pro-reg side.

I suppose a better way of phrasing my secret would be "If you think what the pro-reg side did to enforce it was right and necessary, I wonder why you hate freedom." Because if nothing else, the Marvel Universe for the past two years has embodied the quote "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." Nothing good came from it, and a lot of bad has.

144. that happens to me too sometimes with certain words/phrases/pronunciations. D:

167 - I actually LOVE the idea of him being the next Doctor...dude, he's JOHNSON!!! How amazing would that be?

169 - I love you so, so much. At the end of the series, I cried. Those books ended my childhood. :( But :) because I love them so much.

I was completely thrown by this secret because the only people with whom I gush about this show ARE IRL.

The fact that Gaia has a storyline at all will never not make me lol.

And that people take it seriously? Even better.

129

[identity profile] ryuutchi.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So are you against gun registration and training for police officers too?

129 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-07 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Frankly, I'm mostly against too much of the real world leaking into my superhero comics.

Besides, yes, guns have to be registered, but gun owners are not required by law to be trained in combat, nor will they be automatically drafted at the government's whim (at least, not for simply being gun owners). Cloud 9 just wanted to fly; the Initiative forced her to become a soldier.

And yes, police training is a good idea. But there's also nothing to stop ordinary civilians from learning how to fire a gun, use pepper spray, learn self-defense, etc. Name me one superhero who didn't train on their own.

105. SHIT YES. I was lucky enough to see it live (although with the Australian cast, so no Lane and Broderick - although I still WAY preferred our Ulla and Franz to Thurman and Farrell), and by the end (hell, by the end of We Can Do It XD), I was totally shipping them XD Best underrated ship ever!

127. XD While I wouldn't use those specific examples (and there are some which fall off the line - hilarious but I wouldn't go there), shit yes. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is good fun *grin*

(Seriously. Pretty much everyone I'm attracted to (who isn't a Doctor Who cast member or a scientist) is a comedian >.> )

Dear god, I'm right here! ::waves arms:: Me!

Are you talking about a general show fandom, or Moss/Roy specifically? Because I could do either. :D

[identity profile] aithne414.livejournal.com 2008-12-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
172- isn't it weird? The last thing I fell for so hard was a manga, in college (CLAMP's Tokyo Babylon), and there wasn't exactly the abundance of media and fic and everything that there is for SPN, so it wasn't as all-consuming an obsession.

I don't know what it is about this show. There are things that definitely bother me about it, but it's as enthralling as it is infuriating, and sometimes it's absolutely sublime.
