170 – Actually, Rukia’s a pretty weak character. She’s completely subservient to her brother, and then there was that whole arc when she was, essentially, a damsel in distress. Winry is sort of strong, but she seems to become more feminine and helpless later in the series. She’s smart, but she’s a backseat character.

I agree with adding Katara and Sakura in there. Both accomplished respected, capable fighters and characters.

I’m sick of people assuming that people are full of shit when they say they have it. Not all cases are the same, and did I forget to mention that people with AS can’t always tell that they are being jerks if no one tells them?

Yeah, people need to keep that in mind.

I had a problem with "you are the X to my Y" too, especially when I first came across it. The idea of portraying a relationship between actual people in those terms really weirded me out. But as I read the secrets, and the comments, and thought it over, it got less ... squicky. Analogies can be a way of conveying significant information with few words, or looking at a situation from a new angle. So I don't think it's automatically bad. I think going out and looking for a relationship based on your identification with one character, and/or love for another is a problem. Same if you're trying to shoehorn a personal relationship into the famous!canon du jour. But honestly, the "I care about this character more than I care about my husband / wife / everyone I know in real life" secrets bother me considerably more. I think relating your existing connections to fictional ones can be a way of strengthening them, and/or a sort of shorthand (X is the House to my Wilson vs. X is arrogant, self-centered, misanthropic, and brilliant, but I am [blah, blah, blah] and really good friends with them). You see? We haven't even gotten to the secret yet. I wonder, though, how many of the people who put a relationship in those terms on fandom!secret would actually say anything of the sort in real life. This comm sort of lends itself to character analogies.
