I have a secret similar to this, only it's not so much "I think we must be fundamentally different" if they actively dislike the character I love, but because the only people I've seen who actively dislike him seem to hate him with a fangirly passion and I'm 99% sure that would spill into our interactions if they found out he's one of my favorite characters. :/

104. It might also be because Deadwood is a Western and True Blood is, as near as I can tell, some kind of Horror/Romance thing? From what I've seen, Romance and even Horror tend to be a lot more popular than Westerns are amongst HUGE SWARMS of fandom. Which makes me sad because, lol, Tombstone -- but then I can't blame them, since Westerns usually aren't my thing either. Tombstone's just that good. *sad*

I remember seeing Aaron on Smallville as Jimmy (I don't watch the show anymore so it was while channel surfing) and being outraged because Shawn had played some Freak of the Week in Season 1-2 and I thought the casting people just overlooked that and re-cast him as Jimmy. 159. Personally I don't think that's anything to be ashamed of. It's only natural that what you loved as a kid will always have a special place in your heart, because it takes you back. I was obsessed with Digimon as a kid, and even if I now realize it wasn't as epic as I'd thought at the time, I still love watching it, love the characters, and think it has some good writing.
