Maybe when the Bush administration ends, all the people who want to punch *him* in the face for whatever reason will be less tempted to take their rage out on ordinary people they suspect of possibly voting for him, and lj's political discourse will mellow a bit.

Thanks to anon's hint a couple pages back (HINT: using photobucket guarantees your secrets are not so secret, especially if your LJ and photobucket handles are the same - not to mention the fact that the images for your LJ layout are dumped on your photobucket account. *facepalm*) I decided to see if your fic lived up to your opinion of it, and I've got to say, I was rather disappointed.

Yeah, I know it's not that hard to ride above the crowd in the KH fandom where AUs and OOC run rampant, but there's still some pretty good writers for KH - you have to be pretty much the shit to be able to say you can top, say,

rex_dart,

ronsard, or

kokanshu. Sure, they have their flaws, but they're all at the top of the fandom, IMO.

Look, your fic. It's a bit purple, which isn't necessarily bad, but the big thing I wanted to say was show, don't tell. You're explicitly stating your characters' mindsets and internal states all the time rather than presenting situations to the reader in which material is inferred. This is writing 101, okay? While yeah, this could probably be taken with a grain of salt because I've received criticism on my writing for not going deep enough into characters' heads and leaving things unexplained, I don't think my opinion's entirely without merit.

If you think I'm just blowing steam, leave a scathing review on one of my own Axel/Roxas fics. (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4315964/1/From_Out_of_Town) Then again, if you think the aforementioned KH authors' writing isn't as good as your own, I don't see how my fic could change your inflated opinion of your own talent.

170 - I can relate to that! Don Bluth is a total genius but his movies are also some of the most frightening stuff I've ever seen on film. Forget The Exorcist - Jenner and Dragon from The Secret Of NIMH beat films that hands down for the Scary Award. Not to mention the Great Owl.. :: shivers ::

133: Agree so hard. My reaction to most secrets is "This is really something you felt had to be kept secret? You would seriously not tell anyone this?" And when an actual secret is posted, something that someone actually doesn't want to admit, it gets flamed. It's ridiculous. If everyone was proud of everything they posted here, it would not be a secrets community.

170. OMG I watched that movie for the first time in yeaaaaars a few weeks ago! The Duke didn't scare me that much though.

If you're terrified to do so, then your blood pressure will probably thank you to stay out of internet political discussions. I've gotten tempted to say a few things whenever such topics crop up on fandom communities, but it's a lot easier to either change the subject or ignore it altogether.

Even if you have tons of credible sources with which to back up your argument, you probably won't be respected very much nor will you be well-liked. ...Particularly when our party is hated as much as it is these days. Such is the nature of arguing politics.
