I can remember going to an anime con with a friend and watching Esca in one of the viewing rooms. Since we had both seen the entire show, we felt the need to belt out the ending and opening each time they came on. I'm sure the other folks in the room wanted to strangle usXD Also, I cosplayed Hitomi once.

I can feel you, even if over time Usopp and Brook became some of my favorite characters.

I wanted to put Brook into a wood-chipper for the longest time, and he still makes me head desk. He's awful... needy. Then when you know where he's been I have to give him that much that he might need a little bit of attention after all that.

Usopp kinda hurts, because he does the same things I do that I really hate about myself. It's painful to watch him make the same mistakes, and fall into the same insecurities.

But. I'll rely on Franky as my role model and love them anyway, only occasionally losing my temper and punching them in the back of their heads! :3

Re: 148

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't mind Usopp if he's not making an idiot of himself, but those moments are few and far between.

As for Brooke... I guess the same thing stands, but I don't feel any sympathy for him at all, for some reason, heh. I don't know. Maybe it's because his jokes are so terrible. Idk.

Franky is pretty sweet. He gets the job done and doesnt afraid of anything.

111 - People seriously miss it!? O_O I thought it was obvious *Boggles as well*

124 - WONDERFALLS!!! =D =D I was starting to think no one knew it existed! Dude, NC-17 them by all means!

149 - *drabble. Annnd I think that's..pretty idiotic! xD Everyone has their own drives for drabbles, getting a scene out of their head, exercising an emotion, even as little pick me ups for friends. I write some good planned out fanfics (well, I think they're good) and also have a big document of drabbles I have written when the mood strikes. So you're just being a judgemental moron lol

169 - I'm torn between jumping to defend it..and joining in on the hate. I played Neopets for years and years, through high school and college and I met a lot of friends there roleplaying and fooling around with "custom neopet designs" and so on. But the site has turned into a fucking joke in my opinion, no longer letting people have half the fun they used to. I go on there to kill time now, maybe once or twice a month :/ So I think playing it now is just...silly.

Either you're a good writer or you're not, whether you write drabbles, ficlets, or epic fics. I've seen long fics that were really quite shitty.

But you know what I like?

I like people who can spell drabble.

132

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You can speak up for you opinions in fandom....but it depends on where you do it. If it's a place where you can have mature discussion with people, and you're not forcing it into conversation, then you should feel alright with saying your opinion. Definitely make yourself informed, though--it'll help you debate better, and it's just a good idea, anyway.

That being said? Don't really bother in a com like f!s. There's good people here, but f!s is a bit of a troll-bait place, so saying a political opinion--particularly one that's against the norm--is just asking to be flamed. Then you get emotional and just start shouting back and forth and neither side is getting their points across, it's just noise.

149

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Length ≠ Quality.

People's styles are different. Some can write a 60+ chapter fic and stick with it and be perfectly okay with that. Others can't. Some do very well in short form; others do very well in long form. Still others don't have that much time or energy to devote to a lengthy, plot-ridden piece.

Besides, I like character studies. When done well, they can be really insightful.

105 See, this is how I know that Justice have jumped the shark.

122 Yeah, Shoji Kawamori has a problem with writing proper endings to a lot of his series. (Except Macross... that was one of the best anime endings ever.)

132 For me it depends on what kind of Republican you are. I know I should be tolerant of other people's political leanings and I try to be, but honestly, after the country being controlled by neo-cons for such a long time, I'm getting tired of hearing their usual talking points. Actual fiscal conservatives -- I don't mind those so much.

133 A secret is a statement. It's definitely not a question or an imperative...

134 Don't worry about him, he's like the new Bruce Campbell. He'll always find work in cheesy b-movies.

149 I have trouble writing everything from start to finish, so sometimes it's helpful for me to just get whatever it is I've got finished and write it down (usually it's dialogue). I don't consider "drabbles" finished fics or whatever, but sometimes it's nice to read the ideas some people have. (I haven't ever really attempted to write fic, just original stuff, but still, it's the same)

169 Honestly, I can see the appeal for younger kids. My siblings played Neopets and had some of the toys when they first came out, but they were like, around 6 - 11 years old at the time.

Drabbles are actually useful when it comes to learning how to choose your words wisely, teaches you to cut away the excess flab. I always end up with around 150 words, and getting it down to exactly 100 words takes a great deal of editing.

I did read this excellent post describing what a good drabble should contain. I'll agree that some folks would benefit from giving that read.

(oh, and the next time you want to write a secret chiding people for how they choose to write, check your spelling)

124. Please write it because they're the only two on the show that had chemsitry (well, her sister was good with Beth), and like, the only other Jaye/Aaron out there is a ficlet on FFN and I WANT MOAR.

101. This secret is so incredibly cute and sweet, oh my god. ♥ Go you!

104. Because we think things and have opinions about fandom things we're all insane? What? What is even the point of this secret? ;;;;

108. D: D-don't worry so much, hon? In most corners of the Internet it's not like that. F!S is kind of like the cesspool of fandom -- not everyone here sucks, but a crapton of wank just sort of congregates here. I've barely ever had problems outside of communities like this one.

Feel better? *hugs*

111. I get the comic, and it's cute and funny in making its point, but I also think that if you're taking it too seriously, you're just a little paranoid yourself. Not everyone who wants a relationship to develop out of friendship first thinks that way. And that's pretty far from how all relationships that develop out of friendships work. For myself, I can be physically attracted to someone without knowing them, but there's no way I can be emotionally attracted to anyone I'm not already close to. I've tried it -- it fails. With me, I can't just take someone I know who I find cute and decide to date them, because that's not what love is to me -- I've had better relationships with people I started out friends with than I ever have the few times I tried dating someone I didn't know very well at all.

Long story short? In that case, that comic makes a great point and is funny, but it isn't true across the board. But then, my definition of love is weird, so you know. I may not be the best example here.

114. That guy -- the green one -- he looks like a character I'd love, oh shoot. *FINALLY GIVES IN AND LOOKS THIS SERIES UP*

117. I... have no idea why that would be a problem either. So I'm sorry but I don't know how to help you. Hang in there, though...? *not sure if this is the right response :x*

118. (http://community.livejournal.com/typochronicles/profile) or (http://community.livejournal.com/turnip_town/profile)? I know I'd love to play with you if you chose the latter. :3 They don't seem to be plot based at all, and they're not totally serious, and they seem like really happy places. Give it a try -- seriously, I'm sure quite a few places would love to have you, shy non-native speaker or not~

120. Wow, this secret is missing some key words. \O_o/

122. I- I KNOW FUCK THAT END. >O Escaflowne's ending was the cheatiest cheat to ever cheat its fans, man. I feel you.

125. I love all the characters because they seem so made of fail in very likeably human ways. Even though a great big chunk of it comes from their being countries. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT MAKES SENSE, BUT IT'S TRUE.

PS you're being judged.

128. Roooooseeeeeencraaaaantzzzz *A*

... yeah that's it. /totally unhelpful

130. I will never get the hate she has re: the whole. Jennifer Aniston thing. So yeah. BUT THEN, I'M MOSTLY OUT OF THE LOOP, SO.

132. I think this entirely depends on what your views are, how you represent them, and when you choose to represent them. If you're reasonable? I doubt you'll get much flak. But then, that said, you also can't pull the "BAW PEOPLE ARE BEING SO MEAN ARGUING WITH ME" card when people who disagree with you tell you why they disagree with you. If they're not doing it in a cruel way, then it needs to be sucked up. People need to stop entering debates if they don't want to be disagreed with.

... most of that wasn't even addressing you, OP. I'm just kind of "lolwhat" on the "GOD STOP ATTACKING ME" card I've seen people on both sides of the spectrum play a little too much when they're disagreed with. If you think before jumping in and use common sense while you're in there, you should be fine.

133. ... except for the fact that a good chunk of these are things the OPs would never feel comfortable saying, making them secrets. Good try, though.

140. This secret made me laugh a whole, whole lot. XD And yeah, evil and dead Stalin is evil and dead but was surprisingly hot when he was young. He could have been a freaking movie star -- in fact, I thought that was an actor before I read the secret. The universe is not fair. ;;

111

[identity profile] etherealtsuki.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But the point of the comic wasn't because he wanted to be friends to her. He did all those things to win her over. It's the way he described his plan made it creepy in a way.

142. OH FUCK KICKASS POKEMON SECRET IS WIN. 8DDDD God I keep seeing reasons to pick up the anime again. Wryyyy.

145. It's okay. I'm judging you right now for douchery. ಠ_ಠ

147. She's not incredibly omgattractive, but wtf, she's far from hideous.

148. The way you phrased this secret makes absolutely no sense, you know.

149. You don't have to be sorry for that, be sorry that you just made a secret about ~omg elitist writing ideals~ -- because of course no one can enjoy reading or writing anything you don't find "deep" enough -- you misspelled at least three words that I didn't think anybody misspelled. Way to go there, champ.

150. ... But they're not characterized the same in the majority of anime/manga? Seriously what.

151. Hey don't be hating I'd totally cosplay from Digimon 01 or 02. B|

154. ... god I facepalm every time I see anyone say things like that last sentence. "I struggle to form my opinion on things based on whether it's mainstream or not, as opposed to whether I'd actually like it if I gave it a fair chance!" is a really, really weird thing to say and be proud of, guys.

160. ... juuust like this one. PEOPLE. SERIOUSLY. STOP HATING SOMETHING BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY READ IT AND FORM YOUR OWN GODDAMNED OPINION ON IT. You won't read something you "hate" already, because you're afraid you'll like it? Way to be infinitely less mature than 90% of the book's fans, there.

163. I do not get why this is a secret, but I really do totally agree.

169. Oh god dammit. Please. People. Stop telling other people to stop having fun, just because YOU don't like what they like and/or it "embarrasses" you. Please. Stop being judgemental controlling friends. Please.

HINT THEY PROBABLY LIKE IT BECAUSE IT'S RETARDEDLY ADORABLE OKAY. Neopets are incredibly freakin' cute, true facts, I just have no drive to stay involved with the site or I'd join just because those cute pet sites are too damn cute. jaksfhaskjfak

170. Oh fuck that movie. I think I've pretty much wiped that movie and Little Nemo out of my mind. For pretty much the same OH MY GOD TRAUMA reasons. :||||| *hides*

171. Wow, you're a bit of a jerk.

not!secrets #2 & #4: I lol'd really hard, guys. XD #4 JUST BECAUSE IT'S... IT'S #4 but I totally laughed at the choice of picture for #2. Seriously, epic job there.

I've heard some rumblings about this newest 'project' (at least I'm assuming this is what You're talking about). I'm really dying to know what she could possibly do that would be creepier than last time. I'm not on her flist so I don't know any specifics, just her friends are whispering that they're getting a little freaked out.

But, I think if Jared can get past everything else that's been thrown at him at these conventions ('Good luck in your pursuit of Jensen!' REALLY?), then there's probably very little that would scare him off of making that much money. (I'm assuming the project is aimed at him, since he's the one she's *this* close to stalking.) And if she does freak him out, he could always have her blacklisted from the events, you know?

Or, I'm totally off base and you're talking about someone else and then never mind, I'll shut up.

Re: 172

(Anonymous) 2008-12-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Its freaky because it involves presenting the lads the DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS of how and why people ~dream~ about them at night and are their reason for living, yadda, yadda, yadda. Along with the FULL NAMES of said people. I don't know what's freakier - her doing this or the people participating. I'll say one thing - if it wasn't freaky in the least, she'd be a lot more open about it. That its so secretive and hidden away is adding to the thought that there's likely some other fucked up thing involved. At least this time she won't take up everyone's time with her shenanigans. god, I wish she'd stop and go cure herpes or something more meaningful than this crap.
