...the term "drabbles" I'm positive was coined so that people who lack the ability to write a full prose piece (5-10 pages is not that much, really) could claim they were actually writing "a finished piece" instead of "this paragraph that really belongs in a bigger story I'm too lazy to write."

Mmmm thanks for making me nerdrage OP. That's something I usually keep to myself.

Somebody should've told Ernest Hemingway he was untalented and couldn't write anything longer and should stop being lazy. My god, why couldn't he have expounded on that? It totally needs a much bigger story in order to get its points and emotions across.

Seriously, why the hell do drabbles "need" to be part of some longer story now? If I have a stories to write that involves longer scenes, or several scenes, or more than I can fit in a few hundred words, I will, can, and have written "full prose pieces" for them. If a story is done after a hundred words, or two hundred, or three hundred, and there is nothing more to say (without making it a completely different story -- not the one I'm setting out to tell -- though it could be expanded into something much longer just like any story could), why should I keep going with it just because it's not "a real story~" since it's only a page long?

148; Aw, that's a pity, but at least you're fine with people who do like them--I know that a lot of people don't like Usopp because they identify with some of his negative qualities and some of his godawful mistakes, but that's why I love him, actually. Even if you have faults, as long as you're a good person inside you can still go for it and have amazing pirate friends!. And I just think Brooke's funny.

149; Ignoring the typos, I can see where the opinion about drabbles comes in, but it's difficult writing something concise and meaningful in very few words. Anybody who can pull it off well, I respect. I mean, look at Hemingway's Hills Like White Elephants; it may not be 100 words, but it's known for Getting Shit Done using very little descriptions and efficient dialogue. So hey, if people can write drabbles, and write them well, especially if they're able to harness the minimalistic style, all the power to them, I say.
