I have a fandom secret about this fandom secret. I went to a fandom convention, hooked up with a guy I met at the hotel bar, and we watched this movie on PPV when we banged. I don't really remember the movie and had to watch it again later, but I have fond memories of that guy's abs.

I don't want to reject your thesis out of hand, and the idea that they're not really trying to be dystopian makes sense, but I feel like I need some more evidence of what makes them good as speculative, non-dystopian fiction.

I've seen a lot of people planning to pirate it rather than watch it, in order to not support the actress who publicly does not support the hong kong protestors.
I plan to just not watch it, I hear there's no Mushu, no Shang and this Mulan only gets through it all through having some special power.

On the one hand, the reason Wen Ning was such an easy prisoner to keep was because he had spikes shoved into his skull that kept him completely subdued, if still uncontrollable. The same couldn't have been done to Wen Qing.

On the other hand though, I absolutely agree with you and Wen Qing deserved better and more screentime.
