I have no problem with Hetalia. (Though, seemingly unlike a lot of people in the fandom, I was able to see why it could be offensive to some.) I like the concept. I've even tried to read it. It wasn't my cup of tea. I got over it, and moved on. I'm one to let people have their fun.

But I find it disgusting and hurtful that you're telling people who are offended by Hetalia that they're just being "judgmental" and "politically correct." Seriously? Wow. You're going to tell someone whose relatives were Holocaust survivors, who doesn't want to read Hetalia because of what it signifies, that they're just being "judgmental"? You're going to brush off people's legitimate feelings just because they don't happen to mesh with your own?

I'm not bothered at all by the concept of Hetalia, but by the seeming lack of self-awareness that a whole lot of the members of the fandom seem to exhibit. When you're dealing such heated issues that hit really close to home for some, people are going to be offended. Really. It's extraordinarily entitled and ignorant for Hetalia fans to think that everyone should be accepting of their hobby. Granted, I think the haters that continuously whine about Hetalia's existence aren't quite entirely in the right either, but that doesn't give Hetalia fans the right to whine about people being offended, either. Jesus fucking Christ.

Also: "political correctness," to paraphrase someone, is a term used by those who tend to trivialize the scars of others and minimize the suffering of victims, while whining about their own wounds. I wish I could banish it from all discourse.

43. I actually wouldn't have minded the romances, but...in my opinion, they weren't written well. At all. I thought most of the interactions between Hellboy and Liz were cheesy, corny, and cringe-worthy. I also ended up not caring much about Abe's romantic...er, dilemma. I was a little bit sad to see Nuala go, though. I thought she had potential to be a good, if not decent character.

But then again, even if I thought Hellboy/Liz was well-written, I still would've felt that it was weird. I prefer, and am more used to; their familial relationship in the comics instead of their romantic relationship in the films. Hell, one of the reasons I love the Hellboy comics is because there aren't any ~*~*~OMG epik lov3!1~*~*~ for Hellboy or other characters to be all melodramatic over. As for the rest, well, you've already listed them. ;)

160: THIS. OH GOD, THIS. I honestly thought the writers wrote him as a joke him until I heard some of them talk about him like they actually think he's an alright hero. I can't fucking stand him, and think he's the absolute worst character on the show. The way he and Kate act together literally makes me feel ill. (Mostly because I really like her when she's nowhere near him.)

114) You do realize it isn't just the fans who celebrate characters' birthdays; the actors/actresses who play them (seiyuu and haiyuu at least, not sure about dub actors) will often wish birthday greetings to the characters years after they've stopped performing as them.

When something changes your life, as it often does in the business, you want to show your appreciation however you can, and it's kind of like saying thanks to someone who's passed away, who can't really "hear" you -- hoping that somehow somewhere your feelings have reached them. Or something like that. And if a character's birthday inspires fans to be creative, then what the heck is wrong with that?

No, no I'm pretty sure that you and everyone else in the earlier pages that has commented in the same way remembers Blade. Seriously, are there NO OTHER vampire movies with a black main lead?? What about Blackula? I haven't seen anyone mention Blackula yet :D(Thanks for that one, scans_daily!)
