Men like melodramatic/wanky/stupid as hell things, too (ex. WWE, American Pie-esque movies, etc.)

148. I can at least prove you wrong that not everyone in the fandom hates her. I don't. I love her in the manga - she really is a good friend. People just can't see past their hate. go on being a good friend, don't let this discourage you. :)

151. FUCKIN' WORD. I finished it a few days ago and I'm not even going to bother to join the fandom. shit, us Watchmen noobs should just start our own fandom. :F it shouldn't matter how long you've been a fan as long as you love it just the same.

137. Don't worry, I hate Hetalia too. And if anyone actually knew their history, they'd know that Italy wasn't some sort of pushover nation. Probably most of the fans are Americans who don't understand the deep impact of WWII on the world, but especially on Europe. (I'm American, however.)

Re: 137

(Anonymous) 2009-01-01 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Way to generalize there! Because no one in the fandom can be history buffs or majors who know that shit.

No moar Hetalia secrets. This is coming from someone who had tried and failed to like the series and the fandom.

I mean, we get it. We really do. You hate it, cool. You love it, cool.

Please be more original. ;_;

And I think the "I hit it" Joker secrets were moar annoying, but Hetalia is working it's way there.

117) OMG. YES. YES. I WANT THIS TO HAPPEN SO BAD. THEY WERE SO CUTE TOGETHER. KFJ;LAJSD; PLEASE MAKES THIS HAPPEN WRITERS!

Am I the only one who thinks that soap operas can be defended? I mean, I get that you are saying that t.v. aimed at women seems to assume that women are obsessed with relationships, high drama, and gossip. Which, fair enough, might be a problem. But in dismissing those things as ridiculous, vapid, and evidence that women should not be taken seriously, you aren't actually acting for the benefit of many women. There's been a lot of work done suggesting that women's programming, and supposedly ridiculous genres like romance novels and soap operas, are actually as worthy of attention as more "serious" genres that get respected because they are associated with masculinity. In denigrating what many identify as women's culture (even if you don't agree with that, which personally, I don't), you are failing to ask why many women, and men, find those shows and genres pleasurable.

Only 4 Hetalia secrets today. You're getting better, F!S.

126) A second season has been confirmed (I think). Gonzo needs the cash.

129) I don't think they slept together.

117. I have such a soft spot for this pairing. <3

101. May the day come when the 'weeaboo' slur falls out of use. :-|

108. Guess the 'L' doesn't stand for lovin'. Condolences.

112. With or without Jason Statham, poster?

126. Hmm, so that's what Gonzo was doing between Afro Samurai and its sequel.

129. What the – ? Thought that was Kira / Lacus for a second. o_O Those two series look awfully similar to each other, I swear.

139. This secret makes Ernest Borgnine smile. (You can watch the show over at Hulu, assuming you haven't already done so.)

146. Atlus appreciates your offering of free Raidou publicity. :-)

147. (From Hellboy II, right, not Pan's Labyrinth?)

148. Take heart, poster. Anzu's about the only thing I like about that series.

129

[identity profile] rainbow-cnxn.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
A nice brunette "normal" guy who has an uncanny knack for piloting a large bipedal robot gets together with a pink-haired princess who espouses peace, fairness, and reconciliation? No, I have no clue why you'd think that that was Kira and Lacus. >_>

The two ships end very differently, though. ;_;

All blonds, huh? (http://fc70.deviantart.com/fs39/f/2008/364/e/8/Hetalia_Countries_by_Numbuh00.jpg)

Just because the hair isn't colored, doesn't mean every character = blond + blue eyes.

Greece looks cool, though.

I don't even care about the relevance of this secret to Hetalia. I just want to LOL that you are insulted that the series is calling your country fail.

Um...check your WWII history. Italy was pretty damn fail.

While we're at it, the French suck at wars, the British are pricks, the Chinese are cheap, the Russians are evil, and the Americans are rednecks.

Because NOBODY ever makes fun of countries EVER.

Before the mid-19th century, France was actually pretty good at warfare. They were the most powerful country in Europe for a while.

101. I never see the point of making fun of weeaboos. Yeah, someone could tell them to chill their roll for a bit nicely and most do grow out of it. I feel lonely that I never went into a weeaboo stage. I only wanted to go to Japan to buy shit cheaper and eat the cuisine. I always thought of Tokyo not too different than New York City though. I always regarded Japan no better than your typical country. I guess I was too much of a cheapskate in my tender years.

106. Cool story bro. FYI, only ten, yes ten characters that actually fit your criteria. Out of 30 something characters....

108. Nope, the guy was only looking for sex, as shitty as that is. You worth so much more than that. He doesn't deserve YOU, not the other way around.

114. Is that some Ben Savage?

118. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong of liking it. Most on the wank is on F!S anyway.

127. Why did I thought that was Sugoroku Mutou from Yugi-oh for a minute there?

129. I don't think so either, considering Suzaku's mindset and that I doubt he would do with her while being too mindful of their social positions.

135. Okami will be awesome for you, trust me.

137. Yeah, and you have your opinion on that. Not everyone is going to feel that way about it though.

148. I wish Anzu was more active in the series and didn't act so boy crazy over Yami. I didn't really like that back when I read fanfics about her, she was protrayed as a bitch more often than not.

155. Interesting... I hope he can find work outside of being an asshole after House. So easily to be pigeonholed in a role over here.

Most of TV is fail across the board nowadays, especially when it's still riddled with vapid reality shows.

Aww, I actually feel kind of sorry for you, OP. The people who say that sort of thing have a chance, no matter how slim, of maybe being published one day. You, on the other hand, have given up without trying (and if writing isn't your thing, apply this same philosophy to just about any type of life success that requires a measure of hope mixed in with hard work and dedication.)

123. That is hilarious - on an only just tangentially related note, I had a dream last night that I won a contest (or something) that granted me the opportunity to hang out with the Boosh before a live show and both Noel and Julian turned out to be drunken, idiotic, insensitive bastards and I immediately lost all admiration or affection I had towards them (in my dream). It was weird because I really rather love Julian.
141. I would say me, too, but (a) there are men who also like those shows, (b) women also like shows of quality that are not ... disgusting, and (c) I'm just not smart to begin with.
155. I hate [when Americans remake English things] as well.

151. I've lurked a bit in Watchmen fandom and it's more laid back than it seems from the outside. And anyway, you don't need to join the fandom to read the comic. It's excellent, so don't let the srs bzns fans put you off it.
