That's your opinion, of course. Sadly, popular opinion dictates otherwise. I wouldn't find it realistic for anyone to switch, hell, I have a gay friend and he only bottoms and I know another and he only tops (no, they don't know each other). I would also find it weird for a meek character to even want to bother being on top or for a macho character to take it up the ass, it wouldn't fit their characters.

165 - Wait, CAN it win? I can't remember when it came out in theatres, but it was fairly recently, wasn't it? And isn't the cut-off for the Oscars already passed (meaning if it wasn't out in theatres prior to that date, it can't win)? 166. I don't really care who pitches or catches, I just don't like characters getting *written as* tops or bottoms, if that makes sense. The whole vicious cycle of seme-and-uke-fication. (Except for Guts from Berserk, whom I consider the toppiest top to ever top, but more because of canonical massive sexual trauma and control issues than because of his undeniable manliness.)

146. A. Why would you end up a traffic cop with a forensic science qualification? Are you confused about the show? Abby isn't a cop of any kind, she is a lab. tech. She doesn't have any law enforcement qualifications (that the show mentions).

B. Sorry dude, now that CSI/NCIS et. al. are popular, forensic science is one of the most oversubscribed courses worldwide. You would have to be at the top of your game to even get into one of these courses. To get your own lab, with the government, with that equipment, never grubbing for money, seemingly only working for 4 agents, not likely. You would be lucky if you got in and got a decent job at the end of the course. No lab tech I have ever worked with has the freedom Abby does, and I have seen both the public and private sector. I'm not telling you this to upset you, I just am trying to warn you that it would be a mistake to hang your whole future on this and spend a lot of money. Unless you are, of course, a genius. Write a self-insert fanfic, it's cheaper.

I have found it so hard to put into words why, after shipping so very hard (even for canon pairings!) I always feel so dejected and let down when they actually get together. You, dear anon, have done it. ^_^ So again I say thank you.

166. Yeah, I think along the same lines as you, but I expect when people talk about it they are referring to their preference for which character tops or bottoms. I know I am guilty of this with my current pairing but only because there is an abundance of X/Y when I'd rather read more Y/X. I hope, at least, that when people are saying things like "X is such a bottom!" there's always that unspoken "...except when Y wants to bottom or X wants to top because you know they like to shake things up" behind it. Sexuality is fluid and no one should know that better than fandom.

I'm tired and that got quite confusing. Hopefully that was clear enough :)
