143. Every time I do coke some part of me wants to be Mia Wallace. Not the overdosing bit, of course, though.

101 - Happens to the best of us. I can't think of any one pairing that I ship exclusively with each other (though there are some characters I *only* ship with a certain character, but that's not quite the same considering I usually ship the other character with multiple people).

166 - Agreed, especially if that comes with a bunch of Seme/Uke stereotyping as well.

177 - I loved those two together. RIP

180 - I love you for this.

185 - So do I.

(Anonymous) 2009-01-16 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Heat? With all the people deserving to have a good meal in that game, you want to give one to Heat?

I do not comprehend.

[identity profile] shunraiken.livejournal.com 2009-01-16 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, the entire point of having an OTP is that you don't ship them with anyone else but each other. Otherwise, you don't have an OTP, you just have a bunch of pairings that you like.

171 - And Hellblazer secret! Double yay. Although I would run for the hills. Maybe after giving him a hug. Just in case it helps.

166 tl;dr response

(Anonymous) 2009-01-16 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
1I dunno, because sometimes I think fandom makes more of a point of making sure characters "switch" off much more than may be the case in real life (well, at least in slash if not in yaoi. I don't read yaoi because I don't like the ultra-ultra-strict top/bottom masculine/feminized rules that seem so prevalent there.)

When I talk to my gay male friends in RL, many of them are fairly strictly a top or bottom, or at least have very strong preference one way or another. So I tend to find it more annoying in slash fic when an author makes a point of constantly having the characters switch back and forth (for "fairness" or whatever) vs. one "primarily" being the top and the other the bottom, with some variation on occasion.

Because I do think people do have preferences in that regard, and aren't going to, like, make a chart or something to make sure each partner gets equal time in topping or bottoming.

I don't even watch the show, but really, if you don't enjoy a show anymore, you don't enjoy it. It's not like the OP is crowing over their freedom from fandom or insulting people who still like the show--quite the opposite, in fact.

145

(Anonymous) 2009-01-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahaha, right. The characters they were paired up with in canon (Aang and Mai) were too good for them?

Let's see: a twelve-year-old monk with a history of running away from his problems, who chooses not to save the world as he should, and instead clings possessively to a girl who he lets mother him more than anything else...

And, a two-dimensional cardboard emo chick who never finds her (admittedly exciting) life even remotely interesting, gave up a baby sibling willingly to the enemy to appease her friend -- and when she finally has the guy she's yearned for throughout her whole childhood, she doesn't listen to his problems and concerns, and instead wants him to order fruit tarts and servants around for her.

...

Riiiiight. I totally see it. Zuko and Katara were just utterly worthless compared to those two.

101. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as you're not looking down on/giving bad reviews to people who ship them with someone else. Just enjoy what you like and don't read what you don't.
125. Awwwww, Snake. ♥
142. What's wrong with that? Also, I find the Default flist filter really useful--you can switch comms in and out if the the volume is too much.
147. Well, if they're not related, I'm sure Volgin would hit it.
164. This is how I feel about my pairings--I like their relationships as is in canon.
175. I WOULD STALK YOU SO HARD
180. I certainly agree with the sentiment, but yeah, linking to the same thing every day would probably make people burnt out/irritated and less likely to do something about it.
TB1. Girls can be obsessed with any kind of game they want!

142

(Anonymous) 2009-01-16 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the only reason why something like that needs to remain a secret or at least a little-spoken-of topic is that if you go around telling people you post but don't read, some asshole might come along and say, "By posting, you're contributing to the crap flood." And then what are you supposed to say? Nuh uh, my fic is good?

103. Ohhhh Torchwood fandom. I miss the show (srsly, it should come back nao) but not the weird things fandom clings to.

109. :(

110. I CANNOT STAND THAT MAN. The way he screams at the camera just makes me want to punch him in the face. Ugh.

116. It's true. My friends bring it up constantly, because I told them I'd never seen it. And they keep trying to get me to go to live showings. I wish I'd had the sense to lie.

121. Spongebob used to be my favorite thing ever. I still watch it occasionally, mostly when my old favorites are on. I don't like the new ones as much.

130. Hard to read secret is hard to read.

132. I've said it a million times, and I fully plan on loving the guy once the show starts, but I hope he cuts his freaking hair.

181. I'm pretty sure I've done that once or twice.

135. (H/W shipper here)Cuddy, 13 and even Lisa and Olivia bashing is just as prevelant in our corner of the fandom too :(

154. lol, my family owns too volvos. Sadly, neither of them look like Wilson's.

162. I don't like the show anymore either and I don't really keep up with the fandom anymore either, but I still watch it anyway in the vain hope that I can get back into the show and the fandom because when I was in the fandom it was the most fun I've ever had too.

117. Charlaine has said that he will survive the book series, so no worries :)

101. Look, as long as you aren't flaming the other authors or whatever, I don't see why it's such a big deal. It's okay to feel like it's just WRONG, as long as you're not being a dick about it.

118. Me too. It probably offends you so much because there's always an air of "all women are like this, so bros before hos" to it.

135. As a mostly impartial lurker, House/Wilson fans, while decidedly more relaxed, are quite capable of being just as bitter and crazy.

145. I feel that way about some characters, but I don't understand why you feel that way about Zuko and Katara.

OP re 118

That's definitely one of the things that bothers me about it. Then there's the betraying old friends for mild sexual interest, portrayed as a virtue/rite of passage/something that no-one can resist. And that's not even the start of it - that trope offends me on so many levels it's not even funny.

Matt Smith has no eyebrows because he donated them to Sylar when they met on a return cruise from the Caribbean where Matt Smith won fangirls from Johnny Depp after beating him at mud-wrestling, soduko and reading War and Peace in the shortest time possible for which Matt now holds the world record of 0.00002 seconds because the inside of his head is where the inspiration for the Tardis came from and he therefore holds a brain the size of Jupiter.

121. Spongebob is occasionally amazing. Don't be hatin'.
133. FRINDLEEE. I was always going to make up a new word as a kid, but I never did it, which makes me sad.
145. Sweetie, I don't think you can say it here without starting a wankstorm. Fandomsecrets is stupid like that.
154. ...If this is who I think it is, why the secret bb?

Same problem. In my previous fandom I shipped everyone with everyone, so I'm kinda scared to tell my f-list about how much I adore my OTP and can't see either of them with anyone else. Especially when said pairing isn't even canon, only subtexty :(

I know, when there it's only subtext it's easy to say "I like it" but it's not that easy to say "It's my OTP" D:

108:There are male main characters in the Precure series?

115:Well, while I agree that Orihime doesn't faint whenever Ichigo is around, she hasn't really had much of a backbone in the latest arc, mostly just being passively in the background. And while I wouldn't call it stalkerish, she was in Ichigo's room and almost kissed him - when he was asleep(Of course, she had a reason to be there, but, still). I'm hoping that with the latest chapter, she will finally get to be in on the action more.

124:I remember watching that scene, and while it didn't exactly make me cry, I was a bit surprised at how dramatic it was. I mean, I always thought of Digimon as a kid show, and then they throw something like that in there? But I did feel sad for him, though :(

126:Hustle, right? Only seen first season of it, like, three or four years ago. I think they aired the second where I live, but I never got around to watch it.

131:Who's the girl in the upper picture?

157:Isn't this an old picture of the game, before the new character models were made?(I personally think that Louis remade version is better, and I don't even play this game).

The little girl's Madeleine McCann - she's a British toddler who went missing on a family holiday two years ago and who's never been found.
