104. You know, a lot of people want to leave the US for a lot of countries and a lot of reasons. "If you have no motivation to work and live in your own country, what makes you think you'll want to [somewhere else]?" How is the answer to this not obvious? Because Somewhere Else seems better. Why the fuck do you care why? Half the people in the US are descended from foreigners who looked at the propeganda and said to themselves, "I want to be THERE. To hell with this goddamn potato field!" So they packed up and left. They weren't willing to work and live in their own countries. Clearly, most of them made the right choice in leaving where they were, based on the population over here. But just because over here was and IS a potentially awesome place to relocate oneself to doesn't mean it suits everyone. And believe it or not, some people are actually capable of taking a good hard look at what they want and what they have and who they are and all the potential they can grasp, and deciding "I want to be THERE." And if THERE isn't all you thought it would be, you pick your stuff up and keep moving, back or ahead, until you find the place that's home to you. And THAT, for all its idealism and often roots in ignorance, takes courage.

113. Okay then. I actually thought that was amazing, and I sat down WANTING to hate it, EXPECTING to hate it, eagerly anticipating the good laugh I would get out of it sucking. I ♥ you, Anon, for making a Rayearth secret. That series was my introduction to anime when a pal gave me a VHS (!) of it for my birthday. It was to be "my" show, like she "had" Evangelion and our other friend "had" Gundam Wing. Even looking back on it, I kind of don't care that it was Generic Fantasy Story #9000+, because the sad fact is I love Generic Fantasy Stories and could loll in their sweet guilty pleasures forever.

And HELLS YEAH Fuu was the best.
