IMO it's not overly unkind at all to be a little skeptical of things that are explicitly and intrinsically performative

I've kind of stopped caring at this point. I'll watch whatever videos get posted by my favorite youtubers until they get taken down or their content goes down a way that no longer match my interests. It helps that I don't have twitter so I can stay blissfully ignorant for a while longer too.

I think that's perfectly reasonable and fair and not necessarily unhealthy. There have been a lot of scandals, and when something like Youtube videos have been monetized and there's the allure of fame by going viral, it's a good idea to approach anything you see with a grain of salt.

I remember being reccomended a video where the video maker looked at content from "animal rescue" channels and presented evidence that the "rescues" were faked by way of putting the animals in dangerous situations. Evidence including the same animals being "rescued" in multiple videos.

It was kinda... horrifying.

And yeah I would not want to be filmed for someone else's "wholesome" content.

I am pretty sure that some of all your listed examples have been around for a long time. What's the cut off for "modern" cartoons anyway?

Even as a kid I found that kind of comedic exaggeration cringey, and mostly never bonded with cartoons as a result. Which is too bad because objectively there are some great cartoons but I mostly can't get into them.

I have a list of things I hated in certain genres of podcasts so I quit listening to podcasts for a while (finding a source of free audio books helped) and now I'm back and either the trends have changed or I don't notice them anymore.

Those things are definitely annoying. I don't watch modern cartoons so I don't know how common they are, but maybe if you give it a break the frustration will bleed out of you. Maybe letting the annoyance cool down will help. IDK, I hope you're able to enjoy the things you like fully soon.

It sounds like you like animation but not cartoon comedy tropes. if so, I understand your frustration. I do think, the more adult the animation gets, the more nuanced the comedy, perhaps comedy mixed with some other genre with its own tropes, the less you'll find these tropes , or the less you'll see characters do them.

I love YYH in the way that keeps me from wanting anyone to do a new rendition (or at least if i was displeased I would bar it from canon lol). But...i don't know. If it was an actual video game (FF style if you want even), okay. If we're doing that 3D nonsense some animes keep attempting, I'll have to pass.

I didn't understand this at all but in my defense I have never played the game. Genuinely just watched it for one of my favorite actors. My friend tells me it was very accurate, so I'm sorry ya'll won't get a sequel.

As a Brit, don't worry about it. The effort's appreciated when I see someone making a stab at it. I am 100% sure my own attempts at writing American characters also seem stiff in places. What I would give for an Ameripicker. :(
