Weekend Plans?

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am visiting my sister for July 4th. My mother and nephew are also here and the rest of the family will be here on the 4th. Going to be stressful as fuck.

I was watching some conversation the other day on Facebook from a LARPing friend who had run into this issue with people who LARP drow elves. Basically if you do an even remotely shoddy job with black body/face paint, yeah, it looks like blackface and that was pissing people off.

However! It was noted that drow skin isn't necessarily "coal black", but could be dark shades of purple or blue, and if people used that, it was less likely to be seen as reminiscent of blackface. I don't know this character or fandom, but in the picture it looks like her actual skin color is a dark midnight blue. So if you go that direction rather than straight up black, get a wig in a matching color, you could still be accurate to the character design without anyone likely to suggest you were trying to do blackface. (Though I mean, there might be some people out there who would take offense at dark-blue-face, but it would be kind of odd...? :P)

I want to have some sort of party with my best friend and his roommates but all I've got is a "we'll see" and some unreturned phone calls. And this is for the first major holiday since the covid restrictions are finally starting to get lifted?

I'll pick up my sister's boyfriend and drive him 1,5h to where he needs to be. Didn't ask why, but I guess he's going to see his kids from previous relationship.

Then I'll try to clean up my apartment, because it is a complete depression/hoarder hell hole.

I have spent all this week making multiple trips to the bathroom per hour or alternately lying face down stretched out because it is the least painful position, so I kind of suspect I will be doing the same thing this weekend. :/ Hopefully some shiny Tepigs will show up tomorrow while I am trying to play Pokemon Go in the bathroom or lying on my stomach. When I am able to lie down in a position where I can type, hopefully the current fic will start moving faster after an epiphany I had a couple days ago about how to tie it all together.

If I feel up to it, might be helping make some tweaks to the now fully-assembled shed and the mostly-assembled shelves inside (made of spare concrete blocks and the pallet the shed kit came on because we're thrifty like that).

Willem Dafoe gave an amazing performance in Netflix’s Death Note. The guy who played L was pretty great too with the exception of that final scene, but I blame the writing for that.

In the climactic fight, Dinah Lance is in the middle of beating up bad guys when she gets her long hair stuck over her face. She makes a kind of "argh!" noise and Harley Quinn rollerskates over to hand her a hair tie.

Apparently some people thought it was cringey, but I thought it was a sweet little jokey moment.

That’s one of the things I liked about Moana. She ties her hair up every now in then in the movie. It doesn’t always stay up, but I appreciated it.

Tips for motivation to work out?

I've seen my memories on FB of when I tried fencing with longsword one time and have thought of picking it up for real this time. And just to make things even better, there's a group starting up in my "village".

The problem is that I've done the couch potato life for quite a while and I need to get into some shape before september. Do you have any tips to get going? Only hard limit is no running because my shins can't take it.

I do t know at what point this scene is supposed to take place, but although iirc Anne was already pregnant when they got married, Henry wanted any kid (son, he hoped) that he got on her to be legitimate. So it's possible that he could have been cautious so as not to accidentally produce another illegitimate kid at a time when he wouldn't have had a reasonable expectation of marrying her fast enough to have any offspring gotten that day born in wedlock
