104 - Your understanding of pedophilia leaves something to be desired. Here's a hint, if you're attracted to a 12 year old, and you're not that much older or more mature yourself? You're probably not a pedophile.

132 - You know, there are so many problems with this, I'm not really even sure where to start. A lot of people have already pointed some of them out, but hey, there's enough to go around.

How about this: A lot of people, when Prop 8 passed, were in other states. Prop 8 was a state level piece of legislation, and while I, like many others, was vocally against it, being broke and in another part of the country sort of damages your clout in speaking out against it. For a lot of us, there wasn't much to do other than bitch. And a lot of people did. On the other hand, I imagine, at least, that many of us were active against similar measures in our home states.

Avatar, on the other hand, is a movie that will be released not just throughout the country, but in other countries as well. As part of the perspective audience, a lot of people who couldn't do much about Prop 8 but lend moral support to the opposition actually have a voice responding to movie casting.

In other words, not only is it stupid to think that just because someone has one cause, they don't have others, it's stupid to use state level politics as some sort of metric to measure their activism against.

160 - You know, I'm not sure whether to be offended by the idea that Haruhi was whimpy or whiny, or sorry for you because you obviously have issues with your own sex and sexuality if you can't even be a girl in your own fantasies. Your self-criticism isn't entirely undeserved, and I guess it's good that you realize you have a problem, but maybe it's time to work on liking yourself more so when you see yourself in fictional characters--or just your gender in fiction--you don't react so negatively.

I really don't know. I've know a number of people who were/are BNFs in Star Trek fandom.

I don't think number of comments count. Because a lot of people read, but don't leave comments. I've had people in areas far away from me say they read my stuff when I mention who I am while meeting under fannish situations.

I think you get to be a BNF when a lot of people related your name to a fandom for whatever reason.
