Found out I am definitely allergic to minocycline (intense full body itch 10 minutes after taking) so now I need to contact a dermatologist about alternatives for my rosacea flareup.

Got eaten alive by mosquitos but enjoyed visiting a nature trail, and working out my joints. Saw cute lizards!

I redid my nails this morning (somehow I broke a nail in my sleep???), went to Starbucks, and watched Tour de France. The landscaping people came by this afternoon and trimmed a bunch of dead branches out of my orange tree and it looks so much better now (I'm so glad I hired pros instead of trying to do it myself). For dinner this evening I'm trying a new Israeli restaurant because I've been craving hummus lately.

My dad came over for a visit so we're hanging out and watching season 3 of Fargo. I'm having a bit of a resurgence of Ewan McGregor love after I rewatched Velvet Goldmine a couple weeks ago.

I'm watching a National Geographic documentary on Youtube about the Hyatt collapse. I already know a lot about it just from being KC native, but even though the accounts are obviously from survivors I'm on tenterhooks here like "Your legs were WHERE?! How did you survive this! Are you actually a ghost?!"

Started editing the fic after finishing the first draft last night, and ... I think I did it. I think I turned it into something decent, as opposed to a sequence of related scenes.

(And I wrote dialogue which made me tear up twice, which is a record considering I've only ever done that twice before, years apart. Since "you made me cry" figures prominently in the comments I get on some of my more popular fanfic, I think that means I'm on my game for this one. :D)

I just did and am having the best time. What are some of those fics (or combination of tropes) that hit just right?

Oh man, I love finding those fics! Usually the ones that stick in my mind long-term are longfics, and pining is pretty much always a major element, but beyond that I'd say the components of my all time faves are extremely variable and specific to the particular OTP.

Revelations by the ride-to-church anon always stands out to me, because it's everything I want from a Starker fic, and it's basically the only Starker fic that truly gives me everything I want from that ship.

Parabiosis by Penumbra (The X-Files) was like a freaking religious experience for me the first time I read it, lol. Universal Invariants by Syntax6 (also TXF) was another mindblowingly satisfying read.

A River Without Banks by Chryse and The Paradox Series by Wordstrings (both Johnlock) land in this category for me.

And I would say Away Childish Things by Lettered and At Your Service by Faith Wood (both Drarry) are in this category, though I'm less hyperfixated on Drarry than I have been on my other OTPs, so the experience of reading really, really good fics for this ship is less intense overall.

I recently rediscovered my age gap kink and have been having fun tracking down pairings that contain the problematic dynamics I love. Magically old man who doesn’t look old with young human woman is apparently my thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes! And I'm always so damn pleased!!! And then sad when it's a WiP lol or as I'm approaching the end, but if it is that good, then the end will be satisfying as well :)

Those are so wonderful to find!

I love funny, joyful fics without angst but they are so rare for me that whenever I stumble on one it absolutely makes my day. All on AO3, recs are: grape expecations by snooki (NamJin); got me feeling sub kind of way by archived (arahir) (Sheith); Social Time by Tierfal (Royed); and Just Say the Magic Word by mi3likki (YoonKook)

The other fic that just gets me are ones with ace- or demisexuality. Reading The Inside of Emptiness by Tierfal made me realized that I was Ace and it was so beat for beat my own feelings that I just love it so much.

OK So I'm getting right into it, I really hope this is down thread enough.

I recently made some mutuals on Twitter via a fandom. One of my new mutuals began tweeting that they felt like there is no purpose to keep going. I panicked and DMed them asking them if they were OK. I sent them some positive words of encouragement but I don't know what else to do.

Any advice in case I encounter this again?
