Yanno what? Im sick of the fawning people do about this series. Alan Moore is sickeningly overrated. His works make better movies than they do comics, and it deeply sucks that everyone thinks questioning his genius is blasphemy.

Idk, it wasn't about the "genius" of his work. It was "OMG YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF WATCHMEN???" No commentary on how good/bad the comic was, just, it was unthinkable for me to have not even heard of it.

But on your comment; I thought Watchmen was pretty good (I just finished it today). Can you explain why you didn't like it? The only thing I didn't like was Silk Spectre's whole rape thing. It felt like a fucking cop-out, cover-up shit...idk. Rubbed me the wrong way and pissed me off. But other than that, I quite enjoyed it.

I've seen a couple secrets along this line and it's really starting to bug me. Homosexual relationships are NOT equivalent to incestuous relationships. In the real world there isn't any difference between homosexual and heterosexual relationships. Some are good, some are bad; that's how life is. However in real life incest is almost ALWAYS either the result of abuse, or abusive. In the real world father/son sexual relationships are abusive. Period.

If you want to read fic where it isn't go ahead, but don't compare people who won't read incest on principle to people who won't read slash on principle.

There's no shame in that. Seriously, Judy Dench outclasses Keira Knightley on pretty much every level, and I'm only sad the script butchered Lady Catherine.

I'm also a pretty insufferable purist, so I think Knightley did a crap job playing Lizzie. But your mileage may vary on that.

Yes! And about the purist thing, more is wrong with that movie than just Knightley's acting. The ones I can remember of the top of my head are:
1) The fact that there are kids at the ball sort of defeats one of Miss Bingley's protests about Lydia being too young to be allowed in.
2) It just doesn't seem to be set in the right time period. I mean, are the costumes from the right era at all?
3) The way they flirt is far more modern than would have accepted at the time.

That's all I can think of for the time being (I'd have to watch it again to rediscover more, and I would rather put my head in a blender.)
