150 - That movie was so miscast it's not even funny. Gah, Keira Knightly cannot act! (She did great as Elizabeth in POTC, but NO. Not Lizzy. Not likeable and makes Lizzy worse than she is in the books!)

156 - That Rayne is awesome. I'd probably be accused of naming it after Ethan Rayne, which might be considered if any thing worse...

Re: 150.

(Anonymous) 2009-02-14 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to say I like Lizzie in the book. Towards the end she turns around her mistakes in the beginning and learns to not judge people on first encountering them, which though it might not make her a completely wonderful character, it certainly means she can learn.

But yes, Keira Knightly cannot make it believable that she's a person in that time period. Her acting makes it obvious that she's playing a role rather than has put any serious effort into the characterization.

101: LOL! I'm sorry that happened but...LOL!

105: I don't know what show this is but I agree. Bisexuals have a hard enough time convincing people we exist without TV making it even harder. This isn't even the first show to do that.

110: Well in all fairness if the pic is related, Sakura's dad works his ass off to provide for his two children. I understand though. I'm jealous of kid's bedrooms on TV. I've never had a bedroom look that awesome.

122: *shrugs* I don't know why that's a big deal. I don't really see it as a mainstream thing that you just hear about like Batman or Spiderman or something.

124: Quack Pack and uh...that doesn't surprise me.

126: Aren't all countries considered the motherland, except Germany? That's the only one I've ever heard called "the fatherland".

129: I see what you did there.

133: Yeah me too. Well it's one of my main sources anyway. I have a couple others.

151: I don't think it helps your case that that looks really creepy. XD

153: So that's what happened to her. Oh and awwww that's an adorable idea!

154: I feel like I should comment on this but I'm not sure how. I...agree?

161: I now understand why you want to keep that secret. I don't think you should have to though. Good luck in your studies.

[identity profile] phoenixdown7.livejournal.com 2009-02-14 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think Great Britain or the USA were ever known as the motherland either.

139. I once got into a fight with a friend (who really isn't my friend anymore, but it had nothing to do with this) because she went on and on about how much she loved Across the Universe - but hated the Beatles.

171) Keep in mind, first of all, the relationship between Mai and Zuko, whose chemistry a lot of us really enjoyed. I'm fine with Aang and Katara, but it was Zuko and Mai that I personally found most interesting and rewarding.

And you know, I think people use the term "crack pairing" pretty loosely to include a whole range of explicitly non-canon ships (ie, ships where one or more of the characters are romantically involved with someone else by the end of the show.) I genuinely think that Zuko and Jet have great chemistry (yes, I know, I'm a crazy slasher) but I understand that it's a pretty cracky pairing for most people who don't ship it. Same goes for het pairings like Toph/Zuko and Song/Zuko and Haru/Katara. People overuse the term -- try not to take it too personally!

I rather like the first one. I read part of the third one (had to return it to the library) a few years ago. Also, I read the Daggers books, and love them too. I'm now getting back into them. They really are amazing, aren't they?

OP~

(Anonymous) 2009-02-14 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
How are the Daggers books? They take place in the same world, which makes me SO HAPPY, but I believe they're three parts of a linear story as opposed to three separate stories?

I love how he mixes swordfighting, the whole brothers-in-arms thing, and political intrigue. Also, if you're interested, I highly suggest Lord of the Fire Lands. It centers around Baelmark, which is a cool different perspective.

Because he's a psychopath. Because I enjoy the (obvious) complexity of his character. Because I think he's one original main character.
Not because I support him whatsoever.

Re: 147 OP

I define cheering for him with agreeing with what he does, and thinking his philosophy is a viable way to deal with crime.

Not thinking that he's fun to watch. I don't think he is, but I can see why you would.

I'm scared, however, of people who honestly proclaim that he's doing the right thing.
