... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice. Er, just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.

I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

Whenever I see the word "waist" written in a fic, I cringe. I'm so conditioned to seeing it as "waste" that I cringe even when it's the correct word.

Recently I realized that the reason my favorite character from Harry Potter was Snape was because of all the fanfiction I read at the time while the books were still being published.
All the fics that I enjoyed had written him as a distinctively handsome person and as a likable character; pretty much the furthest thing from what was actually written in the books.

I agree with every word that Sarah Z said in her video "The Story of Proshippers vs Antis". I think anyone who labels themself a proshipper or an anti has no understanding of nuance.

I don't care about Youtuber's personal life outside of what affects their videos (aka their or their loved ones' health and stuff like that).
I mainly follow people who entertain me with their art/commentary on movies/tv shows/books or by shining a light on weird trends/MLMs/hacks etc.

Somehow their fans keep clamoring for Q&As or more personal video updating them on their life and... I just don't care. That stuff is boring to me and I don't watch it.
Exception: Always open to people showing us their pets.

Bonus: No, I also don't want to see their family members, spouses and *especially* not their kids.

Going back to fandom as an adult and fully immersing myself in it has changed me in ways I did not expect to. Now whenever I'm engaging with a new piece of media my brain defaults to the potential ship dynamics and kinks the fandom for it may have, to the point I even want to make comments about it during group watches or just talking about it with irl/not fandom involved people.
S!B This is not bad for me per se, but I worry at some point a comment about how this character totally has a foot fetish might slip out in the wrong context.

I don't know why but I react to the word "sapphic" the same way other people react to the word "moist".
I do read/watch things with f/f relationships in there, but every time I see a "sapphic books rec list" or "this is a sapphic romance" somewhere, I cringe. It's the word itself, not what it stands for. But why.

Hermione is my least favorite character from the Harry Potter series.

She's also the one who I get the most compliments on when people read my fic. People really like how I characterize her. Part of me is frustrated because ugh, her.

The rest of me is vindicated because I spend a lot of time when writing HP fic making sure that my hatred of Hermione doesn't bleed into my works and that my portrayal of her is balanced and nuanced.

It's working! I'm glad!

But the comments about how she's so well-written she must be my favorite character are... just... it's sweet.

But so wrong.

I started to watch a little known show from New Zealand again this year after it had been taken off one channel I had been watching it years ago to cable now it's on another channel after being taken off cable last year. It has no fandom. all I see on the official Facebook for it with the comments is slagging off. There's nothing but hate for it on Twitter and other social media as well. I just love being into unpopular things that have no fandom and have no one to fangirl with it over!

I think that anyone who chooses to actively label themselves as proshippers are their very own Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Antis are the externalization they use to attack others, while considering themselves free of criticism.

Despite everything, I think that Fandom!Secrets has made me a better person. I started off as pretty much a dumb and very autistic teenager making dumb posts, but the anonymous nature of F!S helped me a lot in terms of learning from mistakes and how to just let things go. No matter the differences of opinion, I do appreciate what positive influence this place has been.

I used to have anti opinions. I never harassed anyone, and I only expressed my anti opinions on my own LJ, but I definitely had anti opinions.

At this point I’ve been pro-ship for five or six years. I’m still entirely squicked by all the stuff I used to be anti about, but YKINMKATIOK.

A couple of years ago I started shipping a very controversial pairing that’s viewed as vile and “pedophilic” by the vast majority of antis. If people who knew me when I had anti opinions knew about my current OTP, they’d assume I was showing my hypocrisy.

But I’m not. For one, I changed my views way before I started shipping this pairing, and for two, I would’ve been okay with this ship back then, too. I was always fine with this particular controversial dynamic (extreme age gaps but loving, legal, and consensual).

It doesn’t bother me that much to think of people finding out I used to have anti opinions. But the idea of people thinking I only changed my tune because I got into a controversial ship does bother me. I changed my views by thinking about the matter a lot and listening to what people were saying. My personal tastes are what they've always been.

My brother and his wife are having another child in October.

They are naming the child a certain name that appears in a popular video game franchise my brother and I both have played since we were children. He knows this particular character is not just my favorite franchise character, but of any video game. And he picked this name for his child. (Same spelling and everything so there's no mistake).

I have written graphic noncon of this character.

He doesn't know THAT.

How am I supposed to have this kid in my life when I know that?

I am so at a loss as of what to do.

After watching In The Heights, I've realized I don't want movie adaptations of musicals.

I just want recordings of the actual musicals.

Fandom: Jekyll and Hyde musical 2001

I appreciate David Hasselhoff's effort, but I couldn't finish the movie because of him. It's a shame because the rest of the cast is pretty good.

I saw so much ship tease between Scarecrow and Tin Man in the Oz books.

SB: It's a classic children's series. Maybe I've been reading too much fanfic. Or I'm not used to such affectionate friendships between guys.

I'm re-reading Tamora Pierce's Immortals series, and just realized when I list off my age gap m/f magician and apprentice OTPs (when it comes to fave pairings I know what I like and am predictable as fuck) I've been leaving one out.

BS: I've been called an anti before for loudly hating my NOTPs,* but I'm honestly surprised the "omg pedo" people aren't louder in objecting to a couple that met when she was 13 and he was 28. I guess the series is old enough they don't know it exists.

*I don't harass shippers but I absolutely will say X character or NOTP sucks rancid donkey balls, just not to stans or shippers who love what I loathe.

I feel bad for NZ about the Amazon Tolkien series moving filming to Britain. I strongly disagree with people saying NZ is the only Middle Earth though. England and Wales were what Tolkien was basing it on and have prior claim as far as I'm concerned. The film footage from NZ was even altered to make it look more like the UK.

Fic writers used to be people I picked up vocabulary from. Now even the best fics I read have embarrassing spelling mistakes. It's depressing.

I'm 99,99% behind the choice of not subtitling Amaya's signing when nobody's interpreting for her. Deaf people don't have subtitles magically appearing under people talking in real life, and hearing people can always adult up and learn sign language if they want to be part of the conversation.
But... what about the very small percentage of international audience that uses LSM, DGS, LSF, BSL, whatever other than ASL? Sign languages aren't universal either so what about inclusion for international Deaf fans?

I'm enjoying the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles so far (just finished the first game), but I'm not as much of a fan of repeated domestic violence being passed off as slapstick. This was a problem in the AA OT but I was hoping they'd give it a rest or at least cut back on it some. (Once or twice is fine, but making a mini-saga of it during a case? No thanks. And no, I don't care what the genders are.)
