167. *Hugs* I'm so sorry. I know how you feel.

110-One can only hope.
In both cases and especially TW, I think the driving force is fanservice rather than anything that makes sense based on the original concept and characters, so you might get your happy endings, character-assassinating as they would be.

157-Woof! Assuming that they're well-written as well, I am all over that shit. (I just read a Heroes fic in that vein which totallyrocked my monkey sox, bonus points for the incest.)
Do NOT be ashamed of what gets you off.

104. ...So obviously you've only seen Iron Man or Less Than Zero. Seriously, he's played total sweethearts. That inaccuracy aside, I think he'll make a good Holmes, and like people have said, er, Holmes was kind of a dope fiend. So yeah.

111. Ew, yeah, I hate it when people draw lips like that. Other more obvious gross things aside.

123. I have NO idea what this is about, but my GOD, VOMIT.

129. Unrelated pic made me lawl.

162. There are other things to like about Japan besides anime/manga. Get over it.

[identity profile] teostra.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
104. Holmes ISN'T an egotistical drug addict? I really must have missed something.

(Also, am I the only one that gets really irritated when House fans don't realize it's a modern retelling of SH?)

[identity profile] polysamachan.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Except SH had a bit more variety, I think.

121

[identity profile] great-stoneface.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I knoooow. I feel like there are all these wonderful books out in the ether somewhere that will never get written because a wonderful man died too soon. I agree with anon that it'd be nice to find religion just for a chance to read those books. . . but DNA and I were/are both atheists, so I wouldn't go that far. :)

144

[identity profile] trivher.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I agree about the crappy fics; especially the fact that majority of them hits you over and over the head with the religious message. Even more than in the book. I personally prefer fics that are based off the 1993(ish) tv series.

[identity profile] kuja-rang.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
102: Wait. So just because you're not wearing an overpriced wig, that makes you a bad cosplayer? 'Cause that's the vibe I'm getting. If your natural hair works, then go with it. Not all characters have funky-colored or funky-styled hair.

111: .... >_< I can't unsee it.

123: That's interesting. ._. Though now I want to know just how she screwed up her career.

128: THIS, THIS, THIS. Poor Issei.

132: I agree with the bonus secret. And his music is awesome, too.

162: Do you apply this to people who adore countries other than Japan, too? 'Cause yes, there are people that love Japan that aren't obsessed with anime/manga/games/etc. But of course, I love Germany and Ireland just for the beer. Heaven forbid there's any other reasons for it. /sarcasm

108. Interesting...XD I thought he was total wanker, but that's just me.
109. Doesn't that appy to every character in South Park? lol
111. That's why when I'm looking at /y/ I always ignore any Naurto threads. Same goes for DBZ and a few others. Total turn offs, I tell ya.
114. O.o
123. I don't think I want to know the story behind this.
136. LOLOL
137. Eh, maybe just a bad taste in fashion, if you want to wear Snowe White's fugly outfit. Ick. I wouldn't mind having Belle's dress myself and Ariel's hair, so I can't really judge. :/
154. That does suck. Considering that some yaoi relationships are just generally awesome because of the characters, NOT the sex(although it is a nice touch). I wonder how many guys ignore it just because they think it will turn them gay.
162. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS. I agree, shut the fuck about visiting Japan. It won't gain you awesome points, even if you think it will.
167. LOL

106) What phrase is equally OC for all of Whedon's characters? You know, it's okay for a person to be good but not perfect or to have a distinctive style. This false "perfect/flawed" dichotomy really bugs the hell out of me. I don't really see much point in making a big deal out of tiny flaws. It's okay to mention they are there as an aside in context, but the smugness and false horror that often comes with pointing these flaws out is really annoying.

107) Repeat as much as necessary: the quality of your fans is no reflection on you. It really isn't. I can't tell if your fan is actually a crazy stalker (they exist in fandom unfortunately, and if that's the case I'm truly sorry) or just someone who is not as talented a writer and happens to have tastes that really squick you (that happens, too, but you aren't going to get a lick of sympathy for it). But either way, be polite but distant. You don't need to be her bestest friend, but you can still be gracious.

121) I'm agnostic, too. But I can't imagine God holding your agnosticism against you. Some of the worst, most evil acts are done in the name of good. Some of the best acts are done in the name of selfishness.

124) You know, me, too. I always hope that the writers will be strong enough to keep to their own vision. The creative process is not a democracy. Stories written by committee suck.

136) Just don't reupload them and you are fine.

142) Seems like a pretty good reason to vote against her. Her true colors showed for a moment.

153) Yeah, I found the older generation much hotter. Zuko's dad was pretty smexy, too.

154) Predominantly straight girls do indeed like lesbians. But you know, it's easier for us. There isn't the same level of prejudice against it. (Of course, I'd like to point out that completely straight men enjoy being sodomized -- That's what strap ons are for -- so just because a sex act holds no appeal doesn't really mean much as far as orientation is concerned.)

157) Obviously, I'm in the same boat, because, lol, that's what I write. And from the amount of comments I get, we aren't remotely alone.

167) I'm with your mom. Fandom can fill the time, but eventually your heart will get sick if you don't try to connect to people in RL. It can be hard because Fandom is so addicting and so instantly satisfying, but it's like eating vegetables, there is just some things you got to do the hard way. Go get yourself a non-fandom hobby where you can connect to people in a different, less specific, less superficial way.

104. Lol, "fake fandom". As if there aren't a ton of variants on Holmes already.

115. This is a wonderful secret.

129. So where's the line between fandom and real life? There isn't one, not if you're into media studies or looking at societal commentary or any number of things. Things don't become irrelevant just because they're not real.

162. I think if you've put that much into it, you've probably turned in your weeaboo registration card already. WTF.

111, 132, 154

[identity profile] jojo-kun.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
111 - LOL! Y!Gallery people just love the porn. They generally don't care too much about how well it's drawn as long is it's passable.

132 - I think your friend may have figured out you were lying. Because REALLY. Who in the Hell doesn't like David Bowie's music?

154 - You're totally right, and I admire you for saying so (even if it's a secret). You're definitely in the minority of Yaoi fans, but really it takes all kinds. Sexual preference means nothing when you're looking at a hot picture, and society is far too restrictive and quick to slap labels on men.

111. Urm...they fav it because THEY like it? It's a matter of opinion.

Personally, I don't like it, but that's why I just keep on going. You kind of make it sound like you kept going back after you'd already decided you didn't like it. >_>

If that's the case, knock it off, otherwise stop complaining.

129: Why do other people have to go by your definitions of fandom?

137: Feminism =/= not wearing pretty dresses.

Why is FA on fandom secrets? I mean I figure SOME of the people there have to post on LJ, but I don't think they'd go to fandom secrets.

It's barely even about TF2 any more anyway. We just make gurk jokes and post on our /b/ and /v/.

166) Yes she is. Plus, I like bitter characters. Actually, Hannelore is my favourite, but Penelope is a very, very close second.

[identity profile] bamf-girl.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I like Hannelore well enough, but Penelope makes me really happy. XP I wish Jeph hadn't arbitrarily written Will out of the story, I would've liked to see more stuff happen between them!
