I'm of two minds. On one hand, RDJ is a phenomenal actor - even at his drug fucked worse, he ran rings around most others, and he's known for almost obsessively researching his roles. He doesn't match the aesthetics described in the original Strand stories, but I think he'll be a good Holmes.

On the other hand, influx of fanbrats just after teh pretty? Ugh. Batten down the hatches and head for the bomb shelters.

(btw, if you think all his roles are "egotistical drug/drinking addict" I suggest you try watching more than three of his f*cking films)

130. Have you ever tried to write a 100 word drabble? It's actually kind of difficult. I'm sure some of them are crap, but it's a helpful exercise in learning to use the words you need without the pointless filler. It's a good challenge for a writer.

104- CHILL OUT. Egotistical drug addict? That is actually one interpretation. The world is big enough for more than one. And do not worry, his SH fandom will be a flash in the pan. Also, in each generation a Sherlock Holmes Actor is born and fandom spins around that, maybe, for a while. This is the case for William Gillette, Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett. And there are others who have played him: Peter Cushing, Leslie Howard, Christopher Lee and Robert Stephens who were good but not well remembered (and we could spend hours debating whether they were good). And there are a whole bunch of people I won't bother to mention. I think his will rank as one of the many actors who played him.

RE: 119 - I don't know. For me, for some reason they don't work as an ot3. It feels far less fucked up when they are an ot3 (possibly because Freddie and JJ would be able to console one another when Cook gets all Cook-like, whereas if either of them were one half of a couple with Cook, they're all by themselves and the angst potential is just even more huge...)
But this is just me.

Quickly, think of Robert Carlisle instead and soon you'll be back to normal!

He really was a terrific addition to the story. My only gripe about his character was him saving Coraline at the last minute, when she probably could have done that herself (as she did in the original source material). But that minor nitpick aside, Wybie was awesome.
