Oh, and as for your problem OP, I can see how that would be annoying but try not to let it get to you so much. My friends used to do the same thing to me but eventually stopped after I kept responding with "I know! Isn't is awesome? :D :D :D" and sounding too happy about it. Now we just poke fun at each other over it for laughs.

171. I know there have been a lot of comments about this, but I just wanted to add that even though you didn't take the language in university, you might want to try your local library(s) for language self-learning programs if you still want to learn.

I took Japanese in college, but I like to try language learning programs whenever I go to a new library. Pimsleur is the best I've found. It's purely audio, but it will help you learn to speak and understand the language (even if it doesn't teach you to read it).

Whether or not people think you're a 'weeaboo' doesn't matter, and if you don't go around being annoying about what you know, then I doubt you'll have a problem. Knowing more than one language is always a plus. I think you should still go for it! ^_^

115. You identify with Ginny because your boyfriend cheated on you? When did Harry cheat on Ginny? They were together for like a minute and a half in book 6, then they broke up and got back together after the series ended and had kids. Ginny played the field a lot more than Harry did while they were apart, and I think in a worse way, because Harry didn't know what he wanted, whereas Ginny always did and hid the truth about that until she thought she could actually get it. I understand not liking slash where one of the characters is cheating on his wife or girlfriend with the other guy if you've been cheated on yourself. What I don't get is what, canonically, this has to do with H/G. I guess I'm curious because even though I've been out of HP since book 6, I've written both H/G and H/D, and in fanfic I like both pairings, it's the R/Hr everyone puts in that I can't stomach. (I liked H/G much better when only fans were writing it. I didn't like the way any of the relationships worked out in canon, but I didn't much expect to anyway; Rowling writes adventure fairly well and romance terribly.)

First of all, because I don't think your entertainment choices negate the work you do in the real world, whatever that is; second of all, because art comes out of what's in your head, and you don't get a choice about what goes in there all the time, and third of all, because anything that negates the heteronormative paradigm that boys are friends with boys and girls are friends with girls and heterosexual relations are always sexualised but same-sex relations are platonic is good for women. Sexism and heteronormativity are two sides of the same coin. Now I'm going to go back to watching "Supernatural", LOL, which 99% of self-proclaimed feminists on F!S hate because they can't tell the difference between a woman and a demon that is wearing a woman's body like a cheap pair of jeans.

119. Indeed not, but then they wouldn't be stereotypes if it never did happen that way in RL. The problem with stereotypes is when they're so exaggerated as to belittle every person they describe (i.e. weepy ukes that look like they're 12, particularly if said weepy uke that looks like he's 12 is actually a competent male adult in canon, or female characters of Latin origin that have the whole multifecta of convent past, sexytimes cheaty past, nearly raped and then get passed around from one non-Latin guy to the next and never get to wear clothes that actually stay on) or when they're used as shorthand so the writers don't have to actually waste any time, you know, developing a whole character.

ru_cats_daily is BETTER. OMG. The pictures are all really beautiful, they don't have captions (you can provide your own if you want) and if there's wank or nastiness, I will never know because I can't read any of it!

Re: #159, I don't like Sparrow either. When he got punched in the second (or third?) movie, I was in the theater, and I laughed out loud and promptly got a few dirty looks. I didn't mean to be obnoxious with my dislike, but fuck it, he got really obnoxious in the second one so I was happy.

I'm American and I can say with confidence that we are a bunch of arrogant, dumb fuckers, no kidding. Not all of us are like this but the vast majority are. Also, the average American IQ is 98, while the average IQ world wide is 120. It's fucking sad.

But that movie poster looks fucking amazing and I want to go watch that movie somehow. LOL ignorant self-loathing american is ignorant and self-loathing.

152. That's ok. With most films, nobody except the director really knows everything it's trying to say, and plus there's always different interpretations, which is one of the great things about. If you really want to know what Julie Taymor was intending, though, she explains a lot of stuff in the interviews on the special features disc, just in case by some odd circumstance you haven't watched it yet.

I agree so so so much. The new Team 7 is amazing and wonderful. I love both Sakura and Naruto but the endless focus on getting Sasuke back makes me murderous. And yes- totally a Sai/Saku shipper as well (and that is NOT the reason I like the new Team- I would anyway).

I'd so ship that too. But only if the glasses stay on. ;)
