FWIW I'm not great at math either but I still managed to get a bachelor's in geology/paleontology :p.

I just watched Jurassic World: Dominion last night. I didn't care for it much, I took a chance because I thought it might be better than the impression of it I got from the trailers - it wasn't. It and Fallen Kingdom were just not great movies, in my opinion. I don't much care for Chris Pratt, but it isn't quite to the Kevin Spacey level where I can't watch anything with him in it. For the record, I think Chris Pratt is probably more entitled and insensitive than actively homophobic, though I haven't looked into it much.

Maybe you could see if you could find something online, an introductory lecture or something, or maybe find a used textbook and see if it's really something you think you'd like. If it is, then maybe you could major in something that would give you a good bachelor's degree (geology, anthropology, etc.) for a paleontology master's and look into grad schools.

This describes me but with meteorology. I'm fascinated by weather and there's a lot of cool careers in that field, but, yeah, the math part...kind of a problem for me, too :p.

I wanted to be a paleontologist when I was a kid (pre-Jurassic Park). I became an archaeologist instead. There is no advanced math, but you do have to have a high tolerance for working outside and filling out forms.

You can do it now! Sign up for distance learning. It’s harder because you have to really discipline yourself and you’re going to be the main one teaching yourself but it’s also really good for a strong foundation.

Most accredited colleges with distance learning include a set number of hours for TutorMe so you can use those for your math classes.

You can also check locally before even starting math classes for a tutor that is willing to provide remedial instruction for adults returning to college. I am in a small town but there is a large-ish city nearby with a university and I had like fifteen tutors to choose from just for math. Having off the record, private instruction before starting school was perfect for me. My struggles won’t impact my GPA and therefore my funding (tutoring is more affordable than college) and I wasn’t embarrassed or humiliated for not knowing stuff. My tutors all know up front that I have big gaps in knowledge either because I’ve forgotten over the years or didn’t learn it in the first place. I’m just receiving math tutoring now in preparation for my first math course next term. We’re doing it Billy Madison style because I went off the rails with math starting in 3rd grade and then just got worse as school dragged on.

Then, when there are too many lines that seperate sentences, I can actually skip an entire dialog phrase and the other details of the "mini-paragraph" and accidentally read the one ahead of it. I also got one of those nasty Astigmatism problems where I have different dilations in both my eyes.”

Personally, I find this person’s writing completely unreadable.

Recently I ended up getting involved in a discussion abput vulnerability in the workplace on my company's in-house communication platform. Long story short, I expressed some skepticism about this because I've seen vulnerability expressed performatively on social media and am not sure how safely this can be implemented in the workplace. I also mentioned a similar discussion I saw on LinkedIn about this topic and how it brought up Brene Brown. Not surprisingly, I got a bit of pushback (but also some support).

I ended up screencapping some of the ensuing discussion and sending it to my counselor. After looking it over, he described the original post as "more Brene Brown fandom". No lie I cheered when he said that. I'm not sure why his phrasing made me so happy, but it did/does.

Aside from my husband, though, I don't know anyone that would really appreciate this turn of phrase like I do. Hence I'm posting it here.
