I might, but I would never be able to make the decision immediately like Katniss does as soon as her sister's name is called. I'd waffle between saying anything or not until it might be too late (I don't remember if there were any rules about a time window for volunteering. If you had to do it right away or the called name was final, then I'd be the coward and that friend or family member would be fucked.)

I’m not cowardly, I’d actually probably enjoy the Hunger Games. Which I’m aware says some troubling things about me.
But I don’t have anyone in my life worth volunteering for :(

It's been awhile since I've read the books, but weren't Katniss' circumstances very unusual? I think it was understandably uncommon to volunteer.

I mean, I'm white as can be and I can't see any good reason why you couldn't have a Chinese/Japanese/Korean Snow White. Like you said, they would absolutely meet the physical description, so it isn't even like they would have to bend anything about the original story to make it work!

I personally don't enjoy character bashing fic even for characters I don't like cause they're often so terribly ooc and so over the top that I actually feel the urge to DEFEND said character.
I hate them for canon reasons, I don't need their faults turned up to eleven, flavored with faults they don't actually have!
(Tho tbf, I've never hated a character in a so all consuming way that I even have the urge to read bashing fic... no time when there is fic out there about characters I like!)

I guess it's cathartic for some?

What is the least you've known about a fandom before jumping into the fanfic?

I am trying to figure out if watching the One Piece live action show will give me enough knowledge to read fic because Zoro/Sanji has a shit ton of it. My current fandoms are not producing much and I need new ones. Though, do I really want to read fic based on a manga/anime? Wade back into the world of Nani and Baka being randomly thrown out?
