It means you like pron.

Media is more fun when it’s not determined to make you a better person.

No.

Re: Wanna talk about your WIP fics here?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I finished a currently listed WIP but it was so tied up with a fandom friend that ghosted me that I'm having a really hard time wanting to post it despite there being apparently 7 ppl subscribed to it. I want to give an ending to the thing online for those people but it also feels wrong to do it without having ghost!fandom friend not read the last two chapters first. What should I do?

Oh, go on!

I'm supposed to go help a friend set up a garage sale Sunday morning. Other than that... nothing but rest and complain about how my new job's hours have killed my social life?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, this does absolutely nothing except bring JK Rowling more money. Harry Potter is as popular as ever.

I'm so glad that she hasn't folded under the pressure of the attempted cancelling from all you men's rights apologists.

There are only two genders--male and political--just as there are only two races--white and political. :eyeroll:

Like purely physically speaking (not taking personality or political significance into account at all), Obama is a handsome guy. So not that weird IMO.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
There are only two body types: fashionable and political.

Re: youtube adblock block

I notice I'm only occasionally getting that when on a laptop. Maybe on two videos so far. I was able to just X-out of the pop up.

I just hit the x and youtube keeps playing. I don't know which adblocker I'm using because it was installed by a friend who isn't available right now so I can't ask them. I'm supposed to see them tomorrow so I'll ask them then.

Good luck with a divorce, anon! Frankly I think you should start this process and plan your way out etc. You spouse seems like not a good match, don't waste your time it's precious.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think we all in the comments just assume that OP doesn't do anything good. Maybe they donate and do charity work etc. Or maybe not. Frankly, burning books just seems like a fun cathartic idea

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
I hope you're trolling, but if not, enjoy being annoyed by the existence of, idk, just spitballing here, ~85%+ of the world's population?

I don't even have it in me right now to be pettily smug that my existence and the existence of characters who resemble me in media annoys someone who sounds like they have a shriveled little moldy raisin where their compassion for and curiosity about other people would go, if they had any.

I just wish people like you didn't have so much power to dictate political policy in an effort to get rid of those annoying others who ruin your perfect world by being disabled or not fluent in your language or poor or fat or brown or LGBTQ+ or ugly or whatever your myriad "eww, cooties" criteria are.

I can definitely see why "I pretend like I give a shit about people who aren't hurting anyone by being who they are, but aren't like me, because I don't want to face actual consequences for my bigotry, and in my spare time I hate you so much I like to pretend you don't exist" is a secret, though. Ugh.

ayrt

I don't assume they do nothing, rather that if their specific goal is to help trans rights in some way, this is far less effective than other ways of using the cash. This doesn't actually prevent anyone from reading JKR and doesn't oppose TERFs in any meaningful way. If the goal is indeed only catharsis, it's certainly their right to use some of their own money for this specific purpose, though I still find it odd.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yep.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
The timeframe and context are so different, the modern form of police is really quite a recent part of history. I would say the connection is in the idea of corrupt authority. This theme can be found in many stories, ancient and modern, but cops as they exist today did not always exist. I will say however that stories from the past are reinterpreted throughout time, and take on new connotations for new audiences, so the folk tale of Robin Hood can certainly be used today to tell stories about modern day cops.

I like well-rounded characters (though there are a few shallow ones that I have been a fan of). And it would be nice if all characters with marginalized aspects were well-rounded (hell, it would be nice if all characters were well-rounded), and those marginalized aspects were just a part of them, sometimes focused on, sometimes not. Now, I know there is some media out there where it seems like someone is standing there with a diversity checklist, making sure their characters have enough ticked boxes. But even so, that's an important part of normalization. The more it's out there, the more accepting of it people get (generally, though sometimes there is some real backsliding). So, it's important.

Now, if you just mean you, personally, want to watch media with only thin, rich/comfortable, able-bodied people with no mental health issues, I think there's a lot out there. If you want no people with marginalized aspects at all, well that's a little harder, but I do think there are probably some things out there with only white cishet men within a certain age range.

If you mean you don't want to watch remakes with so-called woke casting, well, then, don't.

Trans ideology = misogyny in a dress

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
As someone who, to be clear, thinks she has some wrong and shitty takes, yup, THIS.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's because useless shit like that is usually done by slacktivists who don't actually do anything good other than posturing online.

(Anonymous) 2023-10-14 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
I liked EpicRecs on LJ.
