You do you, but I'm going sub. It's very rare to find good dub actors.

subs, I find reading easier than listening.

Subs all the way. a) I have an auditory processing disorder; b) I want to hear the emotion the original actors use for their characters; and c) if they're not speaking my language, they shouldn't be speaking my language. For example, 14th century Mongols did not speak english and that shit takes me right out (and yes, I do hate it when american media does that as well).

Puppy Chow. It has like 9000 calories per handful, but it's so good.

Multiverse of Madness was just a shit idea and a shit movie all round. Wanda's "power level" is not the problem here.

The only handwringing I've seen is over hiring Black British actors to play important American roles such as MLK, not over American stars in general. And there is an interesting cultural problem there - white Americans not seeing African Americans as worthy of respect but assuming Black British actors have gravitas.

I love watching dubs and not just the ones for my native language. I just like to hear how the characters sound in other languages. Some dubs just don’t work for me though. Like Doctor Who. It just doesn’t sound right dubbed.

Like... what?

Depends on the show, but usually dubs.

It's all a matter of how much power they want to give her. Dazzler is theoretically one of the top-tier powerful Marvel characters, but she's usually a chump because people just think "disco powers." One of the comic book matchup sites has a "Spider-Man vs. Firelord" rule, named for the time a hero you've heard of beat a villain who can normally survive getting punched through planets and out the other side. The only rule is that Squirrel Girl wins.

Kentucky Fried Chicken!

I don't think most of the people who will be going to these movies are going approach them the same way you do

(Anonymous) 2024-01-07 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
they probably cofunded movies like Top Gun and maybe Oppenheimer but they probably didn't cofund the Barbie Movie.

anyway, propaganda anon, the biggest things turning americans into crazy racist assholes right now are donald trump and Qanon. please sort out your priorities.

With animation, it's easier to make a dub appear to sync up with the characters' mouths. Makes it less jarring.

Glorious Nipphon thanks you for its service, anon-chan

omg i would not have thought this was a scottish dish. neat! normally when i think of scottish food, i think sheep guts.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-07 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
That's been my experience, too. NiF was very political, technically there was a romance but it's not the main focus. It's not even the sub-plot. The plot was a slow burner revenge plot. Closest I can think of is Rise of the Phoenixes but I didn't enjoy that and IMO the plot wasn't as well done as NiF.

Season 1 Mulder hair was so good! Scully's varied... I think the pageboy cut was very unflattering, but she's had some good hair seasons where I saw and thought, damn, they should never change it, it looks so good.

That is one single dish. And Scotland also dips haggis in batter and deep fries that too.

Mostly chocolate and deserts. I have a massive sugar weakness.

Both tbh
I need dubs if I'm going to watch something while I do literally anything else-- I can't cross-stitch or paint while reading subtitles, let alone get real work done. I need subtitles even in English because the art of sound mixing ate itself.

...I'm assuming this is not literal dog food?

I mean I do not feel guilty about food but a family friend makes this incredible chocolate cake. Ideal texture, light and just moist enough, and then the chocolate buttercream... and then? Then the toffee bits, packed into the buttercream, coming partway up the outside. It sits just long enough for the toffee and buttercream to marry into something beautiful and fudgy, before coming out to be served.

One slice is not enough for the mouth, but two slices is too much for the stomach. It is beautiful.

Also called Muddy Buddies. It's chex covered with a melted chocolate-peanut butter mix and then tossed in powdered sugar. It looks like dog food, hence Puppy Chow.

I once brought some to work when I made a batch and, even though I was upfront about what was in them (peanut allergies, etc), I had a coworker who refused to try one because he thought it was actual dog food. Even after everyone else, including me, had some and told him it was chocolate.
