He's flawed, for sure. But ultimately he's a good, selfless guy who wants to do the best he can for others and is always willing to sacrifice for others.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
+100 He's not perfect, but he's the best they had.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Selfless" lol is that you Steve, aiding and abetting a murderer, turning international criminal, then ditching your bestie and violating timelines to get your happy ending?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, you're accusing him of helping his bestie then ditching his bestie in the same sentence there!

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I know you ain't calling Bucky a murderer! You have to have intent to murder, and he had his brains scrambled like eggs.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
DA That's not for the accused's bestie to decide though, but for the courts. Same as who is to be held responsible for the damage (financial and in human life) they caused evading the authorities. No one who insists that rules are for others can be a genuinely good guy.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Steve was fine with Bucky being arrested, though. He just wanted Bucky's rights as an accused to be protected.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Steve seemed fine with Bucky getting arrested, he only went on the lam when he mentioned that Bucky had the right to an attorney and got laughed at. He knew Bucky wouldn't get a fair trial, or any trial at all.

Also, if it's for the courts to decide, then it isn't for anon up there to say either.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of words to say you suck at nuance.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
You know he’s not a real person, right?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Based.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
You didn't pay attention in the movies at all, did you? That is not what happened at all, but you do you.

An entirely brainwashed "murderer" who under most definitions of murder would not be found guilty in any court.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
ayrt
Agree to disagree. I know many people think like you, but I'm honestly not seeing it. I think that MCU Steve is selfish.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
sa
lol, just opened the thread and saw 'selfless'. What a coincidence.

He absolutely didn't want to make any hard decisions during Sokovia's fall from the skies. He also broke the law by lying and enlisting all those years ago -- and for what? He wasn't able bodied. He didn't want to help (how when he's so sick) but he wanted to do it, just because. He also went to other countries and used forced there which has unfortunate parallels with US which are exagerated by his costume and the name. Hey, it all checks out! Starks too, with US arms production, but Tony reformed in IM1.
I didn't see Steve Rogers caring for any individual passerby in MCU, or an animal, or anyone but himself and Bucky, really.
Sorry, I'm rambling. I really am not getting anything good from the movies. More moraly gray.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Lol. Tony reformed is so funny. Like when he kidnapped a child to make him into a soldier?

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I mean the Starks weapons production haha.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That old lie again? He didn't kidnap Peter. Peter agreed to come and May knew he was leaving with Tony.

I don't understand how anyone can see him trying to enlist as anything but selfless when he wants to be out there with his fellow countrymen because it's (in his own words) the least he can do, help fight.

Like, nitpick his other actions sure, but wanting to enlist?

Every avenger went into other countries. Tony Stark is literally a war criminal. He ran the MCU equivalent of Lockheed Martin. He redeemed himself from a providing weapons to war criminals to just doing the war crimes himself.

And many, many soldiers lied to enlist. Such a weird thing to get mad about.

You have a very skewed and biased view of Steve Rogers if this was your takeaway from the movies.

(Anonymous) 2024-01-17 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
What hard decisions did you want him to make at Sokovia? Did you want the US military to nuke them out of the sky???

We got it, you’re a Tony stan so everything Steve does is not good.

You fussing about Steve wanting to sign up in the Army during WWII shows how very much you don’t understand the time period. Everyone signed up if they could, and if they couldn’t, they helped in other ways. The entire culture of the USA changed to support the war effort. That version of Steve does not bother me because it rings true.

Not dishing Steve here, but this describes a lot (almost all?) of the MCU superheroes: flawed characters who are ultimately good at heart and willing to make big sacrifices/sacrifice everything to save others.
