In the nineties, what American university had a reputation as a party school, but without also being totally useless? Like party school, but also a semi decent education nonetheless too. Preferably within the SE USA.

I looked at the responses I got and I noticed half of them were assuming I wasn't doing any writing, and I thought it was weird because I specifically mentioned that I used CAI as a springboard for my ideas Or played with them to study the responses of bots who do certain characters well and learn from them how I could write the canon character.

Where the heck did anyone get the impression that I was talking about copy pasting CAI logs to a document and posting it. Because that's not what I recall saying. Why to people hear "using Character AI for fanfic" and jump to the assumption that I'm not doing anything beyond that?

I apologize for being bitchy about it but I'm really kind of annoyed. :/

I got two. After holiday deals SUCK. Walmart already has Easter stuff out and Valentine's candy put up ON Valentine's Day. No half priced candy anymore. :(

I also swear that resealable packaging is worse. Either they don't seal back right OR when you try to pull off the stupid opening strip, it won't open right and you have to use scissors on it.

I thought it was bad before the pandemic, now its just gotten even harder in addition to the last three 'interviews' being conducted by chat bots's that made me want to eat my phone in frustration.

A harder question to answer is what has gotten better since most everything feels like it's gotten noticeably shittier here in the 2020's. Like, genuinely *better*, not merely different. The first thing came to mind on that front is it's really nice seeing more bisexual representation. Hi, it's me again, an anon that can't shut up about BG3, FFXVI, and RE4. Sure was cool how the three most prominent male characters in video games last year were all arguably bisexual or at the very least routinely get into bisexual-y situations. Even outside that, last year was just fucking amazing all around for video games. Great year, still riding the high of earning multiple fantastic Platinum trophies.

I miss the the back to school sales when all the school supplies would be on clearance. Now all the school supplies get sold out before summer break starts.

Politics. Ever since Trump, the absolute worst instincts seem to rule, particularly on the right side of the spectrum, but in some ways on both sides. And people feel free to be vocally racist, sexist, etc. Of course that stuff has always existed, but for at least a decade it was overall less overt. Also, conspiracy theories have become more mainstream.

Education. College professors have been noticing that people can't read critically anymore and they're having to go over english and composition basics. It's not just on the internet.

man, I feel you on both those things. At least I have a Lindt coupon that has a few days on it, I can get cheap regular chocolate.

anyway my answer is everything in the makers'-sphere - Joann Fabrics itself, thread and fabric, online stores, availability of crafting materials and paint, variety of fancy things like buttons and trim, and wig quality. I've had a lot of time since 2020 to work on my own cosplay and wow, things are collapsing left and right. Can't get quality fabric at a reasonable price, online stores are disappearing, can't even get Worbla at Michaels anymore.

Reading and writing in general. I think the trend towards video and audible media has left voids. One primary example is that instead of being able to find a written guide or an answer to a basic question for a video game in text anywhere, you're more likely to find several videos over-explaining it. I used to be able to search a quest name and find a comment describing what to do. Now I have to watch a video and while sometimes the videos provide good help, especially for a puzzle or something you need a visual for, there are so many things out there that could be explained in a single line.

I'm a dumb and need my hand held through some quests. I don't need some content creator monetizing off of my inability to figure it out on my own (￣▽￣*)ゞ

I could've written this in my sleep. It's been years since I scored any discount post-holiday chocolate! Either it gets a measly 20-30 discount for weeks and weeks and then all the candy disappears, or it just disappears overnight. I have no idea if there was a good discount and I missed it, or what.

Resealable packaging is totally worse. I keep a variety of treats for my dog and it's a struggle to open them without ripping the seal completely away from the bag itself, or cutting far enough down to open the damn thing at all. You can't simply tear the bags open, either.

Fabrics - I'm almost 40, still have clothes from early 2000s-2010s. I've noticed a steady decline in fabrics, much much more noticeable since mid/late 2010s.
Most fabrics are blended, plastics taking up the bulk of what the fabrics are made of.

Advertisements/Logos - Extremely ugly designs, poor designs with likely zero awareness in what their ads/brands commitment is about
IE. 1 - I was walking down the frozen meals aisle and so many of the items had this basic, stock footage feeling design.
Like, Gordan Ramsey is known to be a high profile chef and the packaging of his frozen foods look just as basic and generic as Wal-Mart's Good Value branded items. His frozen meals weren't the only celebrity chef branded items that even the packaging looked like trash.
It's like people watched Ratatouille and were like, "Ego was onto something with those Gusteau frozen burritos".
Lazy, uninspired and a note that at this stage in capitalism, these companies really give no shits to sell us a pretty lie, just laziness and recognizable names, tags, brands.
IE. 2 - Yesterday I was behind a Sherwin Williams Paint truck and the drawing/logo on the back was red paint pouring over earth with "COVER THE WORLD" written over the can of Red paint pouring over earth.
And I was like, "Holy fuck, is Sherwin Williams aware of how un-eco friendly that comes off as? Sherwin Williams wants to flood the world with paint."
Followed by, "Holy shit, the red paint...is that a threat, Sherwin Williams? You want to cover the world in red? What are you insinuating Sherwin Williams?"

Maybe I watch too much Mad Men.

I've noticed that too; post-holiday sales are getting shorter and skimpier, if stores have them at all. I wonder if they're taking a page out of the garment industry's book: if it doesn't sell at full price, just destroy it or throw it in the garbage to discourage consumers from seeking sales/discounts or deflating prices by having too much on the market.
