I haven't wanted to say anything on my fandom socials, but I've been writing fic for 17 years now, and this is the least interaction my fics have gotten in that amount of time. I'm writing & publishing new stuff! It's just hardly anyone is engaging with it. My two most-recently-published stories both currently have zero (0) comments. Even with my stable of older fics, I've received a grand total of three comments in the past two months. I'm writing what I want to write, and I know there's *some* audience for it. I wonder sometimes if it's worth it, though. If I have an idea for a story, I can just rotate it around in my mind to entertain myself; I don't have to put in the work of writing, editing, and publishing it. :P

*sigh* I'm not saying that a single flaw being pointed out means that AO3 is useless.

Its great for everything else. Its perfect for explicit fics, the tagging system, excluding tags you don't want to see, the way you can write an edit fics on AO3 and so much more.

I just mean that its not made for looking through crossovers. MAYBE someday that might be a thing they do since AO3 has added things to improve the site over the years so who knows!

If I ever dare say anything remotely negative about AO3 again in future, I'll be sure to copy and paste some praises about the site just to keep your antsy ass happy anon.

Criminal minds with any supernatural/magic/fantasy fandom. Doctor Who with anything I'm familiar with. Buffy with anything I'm familiar with. MCU with anything I'm familiar with.

I used to be super into Harry Potter crossed with anything.

I write and reply because I have something to say, not because I need validation. I put my fic out in the world as a nice final move - posting it makes it really feel finished so I can then move on to the next thing.

Unfortunately, complaining at people who, by definition, already don't care enough to leave you feedback won't make them change their mind and do it.

And the truth is that if a creator currently isn't inspiring anyone to give them feedback, then it's unlikely that them choosing to stop will, or has, upset anyone very much. Even if they'd very much like it if people were upset.

Sorry. Not trying to be mean to you here. It just is how it is.

There was a White Collar/Inception crossover AU where Neal was taken in as a teen by Arthur and Eames and I remember loving it so much.

White Collar/Leverage was always a fun crossover to see.

I know there are more - I am a sucker for crossovers of my faves - but I am drawing a blank atm.

I always enjoyed the serious show crossover with the scifi/fantasy. Criminal Minds would be perfect for that set up. Its hard to do well but when the author pulls it off its my favorite.

80% sure this is the "AO3 is child porn" anon. They're being daring tonight in jumping in for a different gripe with AO3 rather than their usual troll.

(AO3 DOES have a "show only crossovers" and robust search system that makes it relatively easy to find crossovers, but I'll agree that lumping crossovers and non-crossovers together means that finding them requires a few more steps, esp for rare crossovers)

I love crossovers and I feel like the deeply thought out ones are still being written.

I’m not a big fan of “just smush your fave fandoms together” crossovers. There seem to be fewer of those now and I can’t say I’m sad about it.
