For godssake, it is a story, it is supposed to be fun. Jesus. If I want real and miserable I have the whole of the rest of the world for that.

Student/teacher. I just hate everything about it, especially because its most commonly used with teen/adult pairings and no no no. To each their own and I'm not gonna tell you not to write it, but I will never read it.

So it is student/teacher or teen/adult that you don't like?

Romantic abuse tropes, in general. I myself have dark fantasies and enjoy fiction that explores heavy subject matter, I love psychological horror. And with dark erotica it doesn't have to be 100% realistic at all, of course it will have fantasy aspects. But I get squicked out by totally romantic or fluffy treatments of abusive scenarios really fast, where it's not supposed to come across as fucked up. In a worse part of my life that type of story was legit triggering for me while I could read fiction about abuse with a more serious tone without getting triggered. This is just a personal squick though, I understand why the fantasy of romantic abuse appeals to people. But it's generally REALLY not for me.

I'm not triggered by this, but I also find it offputting and unappealing.

Something like 90% of antihero tropes. Dark and gritty and hopeless just for the sake of it.

If we’re talking more fandom tropes then most forms of rivals to lovers or enemies to lovers ships because I can just never see two people who fundamentally hate each other as having any form of romantic feelings.

It’s the same reason a lot of fairly bog standard het romances don’t work for me: the two characters don’t seem to like one another at all and I have such a hard time seeing anything shippy in that.

(The only times I can do any form of enemies to lovers is when it’s a far more fucked up hate sex type situation, and if it becomes positive down the line there has to be a huge amount of work done to earn it).

A severe/heart-wrenching cliffhanger before the writer goes missing or simply never returns to the fic </3

Bully/victim. As someone who was bullied I don't see how there can be any romance in it and just think people are trying to justify it like how people used to go "if a boy pulls your hair he likes you" on us victims.

Haha, I like it because I was bullied! I can totally see why it bothers people though.

Nobody is trying to justify anything to you. Their fiction is not about you and your bully. They don't know you. They're just writing what they like, and some people like fictional situations where "He pulls your hair because he likes you" is true for the characters in the fic.

Does coffee au, highschool au, florist/tattoo artist au count as a trope?

They are often the most boring, least interesting au's one can find yet are really really popular. They read so similar to each other that I mostly hate all of it.

Definitely a trope, and I avoid them, too.

mindlessly repeating some pattern where it doesn't make sense.

Fics where characters who aren't bad people in canon are deeply and unequivocally bad people, like Mob Boss AUs, or Serial Killer AUs. Also, fics which depict my ship in a pretty clear-cut victim/abuser dynamic.

Badness does nothing for me in its own right. I only find it sexy insofar as it exists in tension with the character's inner desire to be better/get better/feel better. (kinktomato, yadda yadda, it's just a personal taste thing.)

This is a specific one, but I hate it when Sugar Daddies are the best boyfriend ever. Just super attentive romantically and generous lovers and doting good guys who give great gifts.

I know that's the fantasy, but I want fucked up romances about overbearing people who are selfish and obsessed with control. And if i can't get that in stories where guys pay for sex/companionship then where can I?!?

Slap,slap kiss. Constant, petty bickering and fighting does not say True Love to everyone, let alone Happily Ever After. Ditto one-sided, mean-spirited joking and sniping that the other side doesn't seem to appreciate or that is about things that the sniper knows are a genuinely sensitive subject for the person they are sniping at.

Jealousy being protrayed as cute and funny and a sign of love.
