And this is where word choice comes into play. Hacked means a specific thing and you’re using it to mean three very different things. Yes, there’s a difference between hacking, modding, and using console commands. And the use of cheat codes literally means hacking. It doesn’t mean modding, it doesn’t mean using console commands.
So no, you don’t agree with me. Because there is nothing wrong with console commands. There is nothing wrong with mods. There is something wrong with hacking. And if OP meant cheat codes as shorthand for hacking, which seems most likely because the original form of cheat codes doesn’t exist anymore, then I disagree with them.

Oh you’re THAT anon. You’re the “I’m not a troll, I’m autistic” anon that’s been trolling here for the last six months claiming to have been an active participant for ten years. Damn. I thought we’d finally gotten rid of you. I can keep dreaming, I guess.

I have the completely un-backed-up impression that a lot of the Hazbin Hotel hate comes from bitter Owl House fans who blame it for the fact that they can't go get more of what they like, because a lot of the fandom moved there so whenever they say they want more Owl House, people point them toward Hazbin Hotel instead.

This may be entirely wrong but it's a vibe I've picked up second hand.

I think the second commenter is exactly that kind of pedant. I’m so annoyed with myself that I fell for it and fed the troll all evening.

Re: Shower Routine?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I shower every day as I am an oily person who needs a shower after I wake up to feel clean, so I have two versions:

Half-shower/quick shower: I'm just washing my body, hair goes up in a bun, I clean my body and then get out to wash my face, brush my teeth, anything else I need to do before getting dressed. I do this most days and it takes about 5-7 mins.

Full-shower/long shower: where I shampoo/condition my hair along with washing my body(cleaning face, brushing teeth, etc), I only do this twice a week as it takes a long time to rinse my hair out and dry it so I save it for days off typically unless I'm going somewhere nice on those days then I'll do it in the evening the day before.

I’m in the Owl House fandom and I’ve barely ever seen anything about Hazbin Hotel there. Most of the shows that get pushed for us to watch next are whatever is newest on Disney at the moment.

Never heard of this film.

I always love this "controversy" because it implies that beating a game on normal or hard mode is something of "value". It isn't. It's just entertainment in the end. (entertainment for the sake sake of entertainment has a value, of course. In this context I mean that it's seen as "valuable skill")
It has value only when put into a PvP context, when you are playing against another human being on the same ground.
Against the computer? Who cares? It's your game. Do whatever makes you enjoy the game more. At the end it doesn't really matter.

I'm all for easy mode and cheat codes for every game! I mod my games all the time to make the experience more enjoyable to me.
Like, am I supposed to be impressed you beat that game on the hardest difficulty? I am not and never will.

Dead Space is my favourite game and I replay it multiple times a year. I put it in the hardest difficulty mode and I also have mods that make it even harder for me. I don't do it to impress other people. I do it because I enjoy that game when it's hard as hell and I risk death every 5 seconds. I will never be offended if someone decide to use cheats to beat that game. It's their business.
I will never understand Souls fans (because let's be real it's usually those people) going vocally against the implementation of an easy mode. Dude, maybe some people just want to enjoy the panorama and cool monsters and hate the combat system??? Let them play in peace!!! WHO CARES

A guy moves to France, buys an olive tree farm, purchases some literal chimpanzees to harvest the olives, locals object, hijinks ensue...comedy? Oh, and at some point he falls in love. Not with one of the chimps.

Daily quick shower, longer showing with hair washing 2-3 times a week.

I miss the time when game magazines would have freebie books of cheat codes for games, and when you could use them to skip levels or get infinite ammo or unlimited currency (or stupid things like inflating boobs for Lara Croft).

It was less "I'm going to use these to get an undeserved achievement" than it was "this is my game so I'm playing with it in a way that makes it fun for me". The Sims was so, so fun for me because I had a cheat for endless money - the times I tried playing without it I got bored.

I was young enough that the point of a videogame, for me, was to be fun to play with, like any other toy. A game I wasn't having fun with was a dull toy, and cheats were just part of the way a dull toy could be made fun again.

I get it, I think I only watch sports because I’m not emotionally invested in the outcome. If I started to really care, I’d probably have to stop.

NAYRT
I'm in the Owl House fandom, too. Same here. I noticed pretty much zero overlap there.

I've seen waaaaay more migration to Hazbin Hotel from My Hero Academia's fandom. Almost every old MHA fan I'm following are either on Dungeon Meshi or Hazbin Hotel now.

What was the deal with the pheromones anyway? I vaguely remember a weird thread that mentioned them. Is someone trying to revive that thread?

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
And least you’re not me, who was so shocked when my teacher mentioned in a tangent that gay marriage should be legal and homophobia was bad that I wrote in my diary after school that day that I agreed with her but she shouldn’t be sharing her political opinions in class because it wasn’t her job and her supporting the gays might make some of my classmates uncomfortable!

Thanks for making this a secret , secret maker

I feel self-conscious about how defensive it sounds now but I made it after feeling like I was trying to just peacefully have fun with something but people were kicking down my door to tell me "no you're wrong stop having fun"

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, unless you were on a slash-specific mailing list, back in the day, yeah... you put the 'warning: boys kissing' up there. Was it homophobic that we were expected to? Absolutely. But as a gay guy who's been reading and writing fic on the internet for the past 25 years... it's not that big a deal. I 'warned' for slash on my m/m fics so that I wouldn't have homophobes coming into my inbox yelling at me.

Re: Comment OP

It's your secret, OP. I think it makes sense to sound defensive. Imo, you just sound tired of people ragging on a show they don't like! Which honestly, if you don't like something, stop wasting your time with it and let others enjoy in peace! Back in my day, we had forums to hate in particular fandoms etc. and the nice thing was, we could shit on it all we want while the people who enjoyed their book/whatever, could do so in peace. Were there probably trolls who went and bothered the fans? Unfortunately, it was likely. But I don't know why people need to spend time on something they hate. I have no Horses in this particular race, to be clear.

The fun part about cheat codes was looking for/finding them! I used to have to search random forums and websites to get cheat codes to allow Link to get access to a special flute that could summon a mythical beast. That kind of thing. Things you wouldn't have known and opened up other parts of the game if you figured it out.

Like the comments above me, it's your game, play it the way that's the most fun for you.

Re: Dear American Sportsball Fans...

(Anonymous) 2024-08-18 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
+1, OP this is a good bit of info and also leads into why baseball isn't anywhere near as much of a thing as football and basketball in several regions of the country. Definitely in the midwest, our schools barely give half a shit about baseball because the "season" is inconvenient for mantaining a team and there's really not an incentive like there is for football, basketball, volleyball, and track. That is, all those sports have very big state finals and championships to vie for, many of which are actually televised in mid-sized local markets. Even in Minnesota and Wisconsin you can see high school footbal and basketball games on local tv channnels. But baseball's season is so short for reasons airt laid out, and there's not really a championship level once you're older than Little League (grade school). If it doesn't have a trophy goal, ain't no one give a shit about it.

The third sport in the midwest is definitely volleyball, idk what it would be in other regions. Hockey? Wrestling? Track & Field? I've heard of all of those being big in some states.

Daily.

Rinse. Using a wash cloth (soaped by a bar of soap), I scrub myself clean -- from behind the ears to my toes, and everywhere in between. Then rinse off. If my OCD is running, I might do that one or two more times, because I don't feel clean enough. I wash my hair once a week bc of its texture. Then I get dry and lotion up. Exfoliate with a brush every now and then. The end.
