I just saw that an author I love has announced a new book will be out later this year and</> I found a BBC Earth doc about dolphins narrated by David Tennant to watch! Those two things are equally exciting for me.

Got 3 new clients today who I think we can help. Got 1 client bond last week and another we were able to get him in court when he was about to be deported so he can apply for asylum.

Cannot stand humiliation (in any media). It makes me want to shrivel up. I also don't like cannibalism, even as a horror trope (and not a kink).

There are not many ships I despise but Petyr/Sansa and Sansa/Tyrion are two.

Anything contrived plot that happens only because characters didn't or couldn't communicate simple messages for unrealistic reasons.

Rape to love, slap slap kiss sort of stuff where arguing and fighting all the time is portrayed as romantic, student/teacher (and boss/employee), incest except where it is clearly portrayed as rape and as not healthy, child/adult ships.

Basically anything where super unhealthy or downright evil stuff is romanticized. To each their own, I don't judge others for liking them. But not my thing at all.

Large age differences (like, to the point that one character is old enough to be the other's parent), power imbalances (student/teacher, boss/employee, etc.), sex scenes involving certain bodily fluids, anything super gory, and cannibalism.

Pretty much anything else doesn't bother me.

Fluffy incest. I don't have any incest ships currently, but back when I did, I was there for the unhealthy codependency and blurred lines between familial and sexual, and the shame that comes with it. Or even the mutual trauma that come with the relationship actually happening. Incest is midkey a squick for me, and that's why I find the subject fascinating to unpack.

I also just hate setting where the taboo subject of choice is completely normalized and portrayed as a healthy way to exist (ex. incest, underage, etc.). Again, if it's bad in real life, I read it in fiction to explore the ways it is bad.

Modern AU and coffee-shop type deals. A lot of the time fic writers completely strip the characters of defining personality traits in order to make it seem more "fluffy". It's strange.

The incel (or person giving off massive incel vibes) getting their object of interest, especially after being awful to them. Nah fam, you don't deserve anyone because you're an asshole.

Sexy vampires, I’m just not interested in vampires much at all, find them over done to hell and back. It doesn’t help that a lot of sexy vampire stuff falls into ‘broody asshole is creepy/horrible to their love interest’ and I have never vibed with that kind of story if it’s being presented as legit romantic.

Omegaverse. It just wipes out any characterisation and agency of the actual characters, and all too often it involves kidfic ("pups!!??!") which I also dislike even after I figured out what It means.

Omegaverse, mpreg or really any type of impregnation/breeding tropes/kinks, kidfic, transfic, modern AUs, cannibalism, necrophilia, humiliation, all out BDSM because it more often than not includes humiliation.

I continue to not get the appeal of Omegaverse porn at all.

(Unfortunately, I'm ALSO a big fan of weird worldbuilding, so I'll occasionally brave a longfic that's Omegaverse and has the "worldbuilding" tag. One of these days I'll snap and make my own weird Omegaverse thing that has all the worldbuilding and none of the porn scenes I have to skip over just so there's something that appeals to my own stupid tastes.)

Omegaverse, breeding kink that leads to pregnancy, my ships having kids, PIV in gay ships (I'm fine with trans!fic, just not AMAB+AFAB)... It sucks since I do like kinky stuff that otherwise is lumped in with a lot of these, like D/s.

In a story, if a character is asexual but lets people assume that their lack of interest in the opposite sex means they're gay (and don't go out of their way to point out that they're not interested in the same sex either) because they feel that in their social circle being gay is more acceptable than being asexual?
