I have such fond memories of watching this show as a kid. I think it was the first cooking show I ever watched, which is a bit weird because I'm American and I had no idea what a lot of those dishes were. But it was like watching two colorful, elderly aunties cook while making bawdy jokes and very un-PC remarks. (That part would not fly today and I'm not sorry about that at all. Rewatching it is a trip down memory lane and reminds you that they were a product of their time.)

I always assumed they were an old lesbian couple, though. I was very surprised to find out they weren't in a longterm relationship of any kind except for business reasons.

I remember thinking this about the Zoboomafuu guys. I think they're brothers, but they look so little alike I still actually don't know.

I love this show, it's sort of the ancestor of GBBO.
They always came across to me as two friends who knew eachother for decades, I only found out later they had never even met before the show, they just hit it off right away.

This was a great show! I loved that they objected to the title on the grounds that yes, there were two of them and yes, they were fat, but they certainly weren't "ladies"! Clarissa definitely wasn't a lesbian, she was notorious for having sex with a (male) MP behind the speaker's chair in the Houses of Parliament while she was a barrister.

I'm getting a wee bit frustrated that Kylo Ren/Rey fics keep popping up when I'm looking for Kylux. Are people purposefully tagging it deceptively? I feel like I'm usually pretty adept at using A03.

Is it purely the other ship, or is it a side paring in the one you're looking for? Still that's strange. Do you have autoblockers? Maybe something got put in the wrong category?

I hate when this happen. What's happening for me now is fics tagged Sauron/Melkor but are really tv-show version of Sauron/Galadriel. Really annoying, but I have figured out how to exclude some tags on AO3 and block them on Tumblr, which has helped a lot.

I really like the RP potential from ASMRs, mostly the silly types. People tend to put on the work for costume and script, it's entertaining.

*Didn't get around to really watch this one, but looked like a good example. :P

But I dislike the actual ASMR aspect. It doesn't make me sleepy, and I don't feel tingly. The whispering bothers me.

I actually prefer the Hays Code-induced fate of Rebecca in the 1940 Rebecca to what happens in the book or later adaptations. It feels way less icky knowing Max didn’t actually manage to kill her when she was goading him to do it.

Books that hit like fic

Have you ever read any books that hit you the same way fic/fandom tropes do? Like a book that has solid h/c or other kind of 'classic fandom tropes'.

I think the only book that ever came close for me was Murderbot. It's not really the same, but it gave me a lot of the same vibes and almost scratched the same itch as some fic.
