I don't like the Snape voice actor in the Audible full cast versions of Harry Potter. He sounds like an American voice actor dubbing the English version of anime - really over-the-top and exaggerated. Most of the time he sounds out of control, and that is not something I associate with Snape. One of Snape's big character traits is that he is almost always in control of himself. And honestly, even older-Harry (books 4 through 7 vs younger-Harry in the first 3) sometimes sounds that way too. Just way too dramatic on normal lines that shouldn't be read in a dramatic way.

On the other hand, some of them are fantastic. Hagrid and Sirius are both perfection 10/10.

I think that you're overly attached to the Alan Rickman portrayal - book!Snape has control almost only when acting in his capacity as a spy. Most of the time he acts like the petty teenager he never stopped being. No one with total self-control would actively bully children of 11 years old. I like that he sounds like the whiny bitch he is.

I agree about the Harry lines though. Some of my favorite lines that I always imagined as off-the-cuff sarcastic are being way overplayed. I blame the director/editing team more than the actor. They're the ones choosing which take to use. I'm sure there are different line deliveries they recorded.

A bit OT but regarding anime: that's not an American anime dub voice actor thing, it's just... an anime thing. Original Japanese voice acting in most anime is just as over-the-top and exaggerated. I find it annoying in some cases too, but the problem is anime, not English-dub actors.

Secret: I still haven’t watched the second half of the second season because I know what happens to Yuri and it breaks my heart.

Secret because: Yes it is a bit odd to have the vigilante judge who sets people on fire be one of your favorite characters.

There's a part of me that hopes the Harry Potter TV series flops so hard it makes GoT season 8 not look like the dumpster fire it is. Why? Maybe once the series dies, so can all the secrets about it and its transphobic author.

I watched A LOT of Law and Ordwr SVU, and it's got mt curious. Do criminal defense attorneys in really heinous crimes, like SA or murders or crimes involving children, KNOW that their clients are guilty? Like, is that hard to morally wrestle with, if your job is to get a monster off free? Secret because I know this is a dumb question, and maybe judgemental.

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.
