Believe me, anon, having large boobs is nothing you really, honestly want to have. Be happy that you have small ones, seriously.

Re: 117

I know you intend some form of sympathy, but this gets said a lot and it never feels like sypmathy. It always feels like "my problems are worse than yours, shut up and be happy."

Were someone to try to tell you the opposite, I doubt it would make you happy. Most likely it would make you argue.

Not the anon you're replying to

Anon can remark anyway they want to, it's a COMMENT system, not a SUPPORT THE BAWWWING OP system.

It might not have been meant as sympathy.

Me, my GGs, and my chronic back pain won't give you an ounce of it.

Re: 117

[identity profile] oltha_heri.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well, actually, women with larger breasts do actually have worse problems. Small breasts don't cause back strain, and a number of other physical issues.

Not to mention they are hugely impractical, and, when natural, are often associated with a larger body type that isn't found attractive by our society and thus there are few pluses to having significantly sized breasts.

And apparently people are talking like C's and D's when they say large, I'm talking about larger than that in this thread. (Sorry for the multiple edits in your inbox.)

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
I'm a girl. I'm 5'9" and taller than most of the boys I know. The ones who are taller than me like really short girls.
Now, I know that it shouldn't matter and that a girl can be taller than a guy and that there's no reason the guy should be the big, tall, protective one and the girl should be the tiny, delicate, feminine one.
I know that thinking it should be that way is very sexist.
I know that most models are tall.
I know that it makes you a good basketball player (actually, being a good basketball player makes you a good basketball player. Being tall makes it even more embarrassing when you suck at basketball and every other sport ever inveted).
I know that lots of girls want to be tall.
When I feel ugly and awkward and masculine becuase of my height, none of this matters at all to me.
So please, please, friends, family members, people I barely know but still feel the need to comment on my hieght, keep that in mind. Sometimes, a person just needs some goddamn sympathy, no matter how stupid her problems may seem.
I'm sorry about the emo rant, and realize it has almost nothing to do with the secret, but I that comment really applies to how I feel when I hear "Oh, but you're so LUCKY to be tall! You can reach stuff on high shelves!" (You get to feel secure and feminine around boys. I get to reach shit on high shelves. Whoop-dee-tap-dancing-doo for me.)

I love Billie Piper's tits, and I'm pretty fond of my own tits (which are smallish, though I wish they weren't lopsided). Believe me, OP, you do NOT want big boobs. I've seen way too many friends get serially sexually harassed, have to have reduction surgery, have to make do with ugly, expensive bras, and have serious back and shoulder problems as a result of their breasts.

Re: 117

(Anonymous) 2010-03-23 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreeing with person above me, while having large boobs sucks it is also one definition of beauty in our culture and not having huge breasts can make a girl feel like she needs implants to even fit in.

Re: 117

[identity profile] ether-bunny.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's just settle on the fact that everyone has body issues, because the standards people hold themselves to are almost always out of a normal person's reach. So much emphasis is made on physical appearance that I don't think I've ever met anyone, boy or girl, who was 100% happy with their appearance. And imho, saying any form of 'trust me that your body type is preferable' really just sounds like the grass being greener on the other side.

And imho, saying any form of 'trust me that your body type is preferable' really just sounds like the grass being greener on the other side.

And then in some cases it goes beyond "the grass is greener" to "Wow, I really wish I did not have this constant pain".

Uh. NOPE. Not everyone with large boobs hates their boobs or suffers from back pain. I have a nice pair and I love them and NO, I definitely wouldn't want to not have large boobs. No, thank you, I'm quite happy with what god gave me.

Re: 117

This. I get fed up over the assumption that it must automatically suck to have a rack. It's not DnD, you don't need to take a flaw to get something awesome.

Re: 117

I fucking hate mine, but it's mostly because they make me feel dumpy. I think if I would actually get off my ass and go get fitted for a good bra some of the hate might dissipate.

Re: 117

[identity profile] lovekyu.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
what the hell are you talking about? A crapload of actresses, models, style icons, etc., have small breasts.

Audrey Hepburn
Shakira
Nicole Kidman
Keira Knightly
Kate Moss
Leighton Meester

What do all those women have in common? All of them are (conventionally) beautiful and not one of them are D-cups. Seriously, I will never get why some small breasted women sit there and act people will automatically judge them as hideous because of their bra size.

[identity profile] lovekyu.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
shit, i think i just commented in the wrong place. sorry, anon.

and as a large-boobed girl i agree with you. oh, you poor b-cups and your ability to wear whatever the hell you want -_-

Oh? You're telling me none of those women are ever dragged out in tabloids as looking like young boys, jokes about their boyfriends being gay are never made, and they are never constantly pointed out as "unhealthy" looking while women the same size except with larger breasts aren't?

I'm also pretty sure you could make a list of conventionally beautiful women with large breasts who are also celebrities, but obviously that wouldn't demean or attempt to dismiss the arguments of anyone saying women with large breasts can't feel like they're considered fat or flawed from them. It's funny how that works.

They have in common that none of them could ever make porn without it being accused of being child porn in Australia?

You know what, enough with the fighting about whose breasts are just the WORST... I am down with this comment. Can we get some more booby-loving in this thread, please???

I love my teeny tatas. Sure, I don't look great in some clothes, but I get to wear dresses that are cut down to my navel and nothing pops out. Also, I don't have to wear a sports bra when I jog.

Kinda this. I look at her and see someone curvy and not stick thin and put up as a sex symbol, and think: oh thank god.

(I am not calling Billie Piper not thin, I'm just saying she isn't a STICK, or ridiculously over the top curvy either, she just looks kinda like me -if I started running again... and even then only seem like mirror that elongates and thins you :D-).

Re: 117

(Anonymous) 2010-03-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I know people mean well when they say things like this, but whenever people express the wish for bigger breasts, they don't mean Christina Hendricks size (who I'd imagine could legitimately complain about back pain and clothes not fitting) but just 'larger-than-flat-chested'. You'd be surprised at the number of people who assume I'm anorexic because I've got virtually no boobs (and as we know, Real Women Have Curves).

aw, OP, I'm glad Billie helps you out, but just in general, what happened to seeing beauty in all shapes and sizes? a B-cup is nothing to be ashamed of. Love your body, baby!

(and just cause FS always brings out the TMI in me, I'm rollin' Ds, but here's the deal - my tits are bigger than Billie Piper's, and so is my stomach, ass, thighs, arms, etc. plus my boobies look great right now, but once I hit 30, probably not so much. But I ain't never fixin' em, cause I don't believe in cosmetic surgery. rock what you've got, dude!)

Warning: feminist rant

[identity profile] frankincensy.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Is it wrong that my main feeling about this secret and all the comments is "patriarchal beauty standards really suck"? Why should small-breasted women be made to feel like they're childish or androgynous or unsexy? And why should large-breasted women have to put up with everyone treating their breasts like public property or assuming they're sexually available? This business of assigning arbitrary values to body parts can just end as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, being large-breasted can have physical repercussions as well as emotional/mental/social ones, but Western culture has a very specific "this is what women should look like" blueprint and anyone who falls short of it, in any way, can suffer. And that's pretty depressing.
