I love him in truly quirky roles (Cry-Baby, Arizona Dream, Ed Wood) but it really was great to see him play a character like Sands. I'd love to see him break away from Burton and pirates for a while and work with Rodriguez or Tarantino (or anyone new) and take on something really unexpected.

If I were able to run into my any of my favorite directors who've created some of my favorite characters, I'd have done the same (and proceed to embarrass myself in the process)!

My husband was completely freaked out when I expressed this opinion when we were watching The Walking Dead. I told him if our daughter were gone, I would make sure she wasnt coming back as a zombie and then taking myself out. I know I have no survival skills beyond sewing, which wouldnt help me super much in a zombie apocolypse, and I dont want to live in a constant state of fear.

Exactly! Freedom of expression goes for people who disagree with you, too. There's a difference in "I hate XXX" versus "I hate all fans of XXX" and a lot of people tend to assume the latter, even when it's clearly stated as the former.

I don't understand opinions like this. Like, I completely understand not being attracted to them. But by the same token, I don't get not seeing what it is about them that makes them conventionally attractive to a large swath of the population.

There's lots of guys I'm not even remotely attracted to, and I can still see why they're widely considered to be very good looking. Like, Matt Bomer does nothing for me, but he's obviously a very handsome man.

Wait, what? Cromwell, evil? What? Not only did the real Cromwell hardly qualify for evil, but show!Cromwell wasn't portrayed as evil either. What show did you even watch? oO I don't even ... I'm just dumbfounded. I don't get this secret. Unless OP grew up reading books about the English Reformation written by angry Catholics. Then I might understand where you got the idea that Cromwell is the devil. Morally ambiguous, yes, that's what made him interesting. But evil? Never, not even remotely. I'm deeply confused.

I've been at cons with people over 60. And they were fucking awesome. There is no right age for fandom. There is an age where things are considered "not socially acceptable" but as we well know, society can be VERY VERY wrong about what's acceptable. So as long as you aren't hurting anyone, fuck 'em.

Somewhat related secret of my own:

I once saw a news broadcast in which a young man explained, with startling and eye-opening honesty, that when he got to high school, he found himself looking at the first years, and noticed that when he went to college, he was still looking at the high school first years, at which point he realised "dear god. I'm one of those". And he immediately went and got himself a psychiatrist, to make sure he would never turn into one of the monsters that always make the news.

Ever since, I have really wanted to see a pedophilic character as a part of a band of heroes. He or she should of course NOT EVER actually touch a child, but them being born like that, and ending up as a hero? It has an appeal that's hard to explain.

In before I'm taking the already approaching absurd SJW movement to offensive extremes and am a butthurt pedo myself.

Because they are stupid, would be my guess. Or they're the type who like to have something to be offended at. But I think OP is saying that they think the people going "I don't like XXX kink" should be allowed to talk about it just as much as the people who like XXX kink should be allowed to talk about XXX kink, and neither side has the right to tell the other to just shut up.
