Nancy/Haritgan! The Professional!

Oh, that might have been fun...

Don't let people oversell you on the show, particularly if you're a feminist, it is one of those shows where occasionally you need to turn your brain off because it's really not a female empowerment type of show.

I like it because I love Supernatural themes and the show doesn't take itself too seriously, I in turn don't take it that seriously but it can be addicting as hell and a lot of fun to watch.

It's really just something you need to see and judge for yourself.

Of course. I just almost never hear the kind of "Ewww, gross" outcry about slang for male genitals that I do about female genitals, so I was simply wondering why that was the case.

I read/write a lot of het and femslash, and I'm finding myself getting more and more comfortable with the word, mostly in terms of reading. I don't use it very often in my own writing, mostly in humiliation circumstances, but I'm kind of getting over it. It took me forever to get past the word "cunt" and it now my go-to vulva word. I just had to make myself comfortable with them.

... that's the gayest thing I've read all day.

And this considering Zyx and I were talking about how we'd let Lauren Brown do anything to us a few hours ago.

How can you say that with a straight face!? No art school here even thinks twice of encouraging anime or manga style artwork.

I would say lack of that stigma actually makes a lot more j-fanart higher quality, because of the constant exposure to the style makes it a natural option to use as a creative outlet, as apposed to to many Fanartists over here who usually "get into" anime later and as a result thier work turns out more derivative.

"Hey Cid, let's go back to our rooms."

Fixed it :P

this bitch is never ugly

I find this delightful/funny.

Can we please reclaim "cunt" soon? Because I really like that word, it works well with "cock", and I'm tired of it being so reviled. The fact that I can't say it out loud to my friend bugs me. Because I don't want to say vagina - that's not inclusive enough of all the parts!

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
If she turned up in an episode, then four episodes later she'd be brought back and then killed.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
The sounds of the words are different. "Cock" and "dick" are blunter-sounding and more accessible, whereas "pussy" sounds demeaning and gross.

It's like how some people have a squick aversion to the word "moist".

Recs?

[identity profile] bibliophile-bee.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Taking this opportunity to ask: anyone have any awesome Sherlock recs?

Your icon combines with your post in a way I find fascinatingly wonderful.

Being somewhat into wrestling slash, I've gotten flack for it before because "eww it's creepy, these are real people you're writing about!" Wrestlers have their in-ring personas just like actors have their characters that they play. I don't write about the real people, I write about the wrestlers in the context of the show. (I mean it's not rocket science, right?)

But some people are weird and can't disconnect the actor/wrestler from the character they play on tv. To me it's night and day.

I don't like her either. :|

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
But over here freedom and self-expression is highly encouraged, unlike in East Asia, so you can't say both sides don't have their ups and downs.

[identity profile] mskye.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Uhhhhhh..... hm. I guess when I'm writing smut, I talk about the specific part of the anatomy. I'll use "vulva", "labia", and "clit," but for some reason "vagina" sounds too clinical so I use "entrance" or "opening" instead. Sometimes I'll use "slit", but veeeeeery sparingly.

It's hard to explain. I think that when you're writing, you just have to decide what kind of atmosphere you're going for. I don't think that any word is "bad" per se, but all words can be used badly. It's all about seeing which word sounds best with the sentence you're writing.

At the end of the day, nothing you choose will please everyone, so all you can do is pick the word you like best (or as the case may be, the word that makes you cringe the least).

What.

[identity profile] phaethon.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I don't consider myself prudish at all, but I agree with you that discreet terminology and phrasing just seems to work better. It seems...classier, somehow. The slang words tend to come off jarring and out of place to me unless the smut is very raunchy to begin with.

[identity profile] cephiedvariable.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
When I was ten, I assumed that this line meant that were actually a couple in canon.

????????

[identity profile] ariseishirou.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I've read whole rants by people who can't stand the word "cock" or even "penis" in slash fiction.
