Or it's entirely possible that it would have been more popular if there hadn't already been a huuuuge number of fans who read Lupin as being coded as gay gay gay (even if they didn't ship him with Sirius) and didn't buy the pairing at all.

I mean, hell, when POA came out that didn't exactly hurt the number of Lupin/Sirius shippers out there, regardless of how attractive or not Thewlis is. IIRC, it was a massive pairing at the time and I distinctly remember a hell of a lot of icons of Thewlis and Oldman.

*shrug* I think OP is bitter and unrealistic.

OK, this is about as shocking as hearing that the Pope is Catholic and that bears shit in the woods. Our own OC fantasies are entertaining to us, and others' OC fantasies are typically not (YMMV). This is why I roll my eyes at (and may secretly give the finger to, depending on their tone) people who act like it's inherently morally wrong to write/enjoy OCs (or even fantasize about being a canon character's friend/SO/sibling). I understand complaining about them being posted because in that case I wonder why the author thought the story would have general appeal, which is something to consider when putting your story up for public consumption.

I used to love reading that stuff when I first got into fandom as a kid (up until I noticed that most of those OC fantasies felt pretty much all the same), so I wouldn't say there's no market for it... just not as much as the authors probably think.

I like the deconstruction side of T&B, too, because it adds an interesting aspect to the plot, but at the same time, I just want everything to be happy and smiley again because when they are sad/hurt it hurts me (I feel like a wimp saying that, but it's true. I'm too invested in this show).

The worst part is that all evidence shows that some bad end may be coming up.

Same. I like that it can turn everything on its head, like Kotetsu's powers, Hero TV, that stuff about Lunatic, and as of next week, Ouroboros. Barnaby, for example, I care little about but not outright hate. How he's gonna react if some of the fandom's predictions come true on the other hand... oh boy.

How about we share a box of tissues when the really sad bits come around?

Well, to be fair, they do actually have a relationship ;) In... probably the majority of games, Link and Zelda aren't exactly a canon pair. (For instance, for the two in Ocarina, I think there's good grounds for them to be related!)

But it's a pretty awesome relationship, yeah. It's something you don't often see in Zelda games - sidequests that specifically relate to, well, Link playing Relationship Counsellor. We will ignore the fact that I ship Anju and Cremia.

People do like Jess. It's just the grumpy core of vocal slashers (mostly stuck in series 1 & 2) on primeval_denial that appear not to - if you like Becker/Jess as a pairing, try either becker_jess or just_kiss_her; or write Jess, and stick up for her @ Denial - they adopted other characters that were disliked to start with, because they had a champion, and they got fic that showed them off.

I have to admit I'm not a Lupin/Tonks shipper but a Remus/Sirius one. This is due to the books though, where both Lupin and Tonks just seem really unhappy about their relationship. The films made me appreciate this pairing more because they seemed happy with each other in the few scenes they had.

As for whether or not they're attractive...I think neither of them look pretty good in that picture. I think it has more to do with the wardrobe/hair styles than the actors themselves. In the final films they actually improved as well. David Thewlis is not conventionally attractive, but he looked good to me in DH 1 and 2, especially compared to the awful look (remember the mustache?) from POA.

I haven't shipped it from the books, especially since I consider Tonks the most epic Mary Sue ever (introduced late, has a special power no one else has, can change her looks at will, is adorably clumsy but otherwise brilliant, everyone loves her, marries an important character). Also, you know, Lupin. Is gay.

25- YES THANK YOU. I read all the HP books, but was never really involved in the fandom/shipping (read: I'm not a bitter Remus/Sirius fan), but I remember being SO ANNOYED by Tonks' character in OOTP. From the first introduction of 'She can change her hair color at will :D' I couldn't see her as anything other than a Mary Sue. Like, if she was a fanfic character, the author would be bashed mercilessly.

OMG, WE EXIST, I SWEAR! The main hub of Jojo fans is at The JBA (http://ls57tiger.freepgs.com/jojo/phpBB3/). Though, warning, if you're into YAOI the majority of the board members are not friendly last time I was there. I haven't been there in ages, really. Mostly just talk the peeps I've met through Twitter and Facebook these days.
There is some talk on /cm/, I believe. There's also LJ communities but they're mostly dead. Though breathing life into them will not hurt. The main one is hail2jojo
