I don't know the OP, obviously, but in my experience people who spend time moping around going "I'm just as pretty as that girl, so why don't boys like me instead of her" aren't terribly fun to be with. If the secret was just "I'm pretty and fun and I wish I had more dates" I'd be sympathetic - this just seems like petty jealousy and bitterness, tbh.

There were times in canon that he kind of annoyed me (too perfect, too devoted) and I didn't want to see him end up with Katniss. (I didn't ship her with Gale either though.)

I see what you mean but I always wondered if we're really supposed to see Peeta as perfect or if that's just Katniss' perception of him.

Edit: Team 7 has always revolved around Sasuke: Naruto wanted Sasuke to acknowledge him, Sakura wanted Sasuke's love, later it was all about getting Sasuke back...it's all Sasuke Sasuke Sasuke. I can see them all together, even in the future, simply because Naruto and Sakura won't be happy unless Sasuke is happy and since no one else is going near him after all this it would come down to Naruto and Sakura to take care of Sasuke, sullen kitty that he is.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd probably trust certain secrets with someone online before I would do so in person. In person has a lot more access to areas of my life, plus the internet. Online, I can at least mitigate the damage.

For those in broad agreement with his philosophy, it was seen as groundbreaking. And to be somewhat more pedestrian, people were fascinated by the concept of daemons (because they're a reflection of the self, and people are intensely interested in themselves).

I liked them because they were innovative. Fantasy is a bloated genre and there's a lot of crap to wade through, but some of the ideas in HDM were genuinely new. For that alone it was worth reading.

Arya and Daenerys are popular characters but to me this also doesn't really disprove the sexism? Arya is super popular because she's a badass tomboy who treats Jon like a brother and thinks feminine arts like embroidery are stupid. Daenerys is popular because she's a gorgeous Targaryen princess and (spoilers for fan theories, if you're not a book reader) a popular theory is that she'll marry Jon because they're Targaryens. So basically, I've seen "neckbeards" who like Daenerys, not as her own character, but as a sort of hot prize for Jon. Ugh. >__>

She never sold her fic and so if she used a few lines or even paragraphs from other source material to put together an amusing story why should anyone give a fuck?

Because we're fanfic writers, and our words are our currency. I don't give a fuck if it's been one month or ten years, if someone decided to make their rep by stealing my writing, I would hope they'd get tarred with the plagiarist brush for decades to come.

But calling her a fattie is out of line. It's not about her weight, it's about the fact that she's a thief.

Hm, I guess I can understand. Especially since I tend to ship pairings that interact only a little, just for the opportunity to expand on their relationship. But no interaction it all seems like pushing it to me, especially since we aren't 100% sure how their relationship is going to play out in the movies.

People write horror stories in non-horror fandoms. They also write highschool AUs, and alien invasions, and all sorts of things that take the characters outside of the canon genre. I don't generally like those things, so (if it's not an author I really like) I avoid reading them. It's not super difficult. The key is, rather than reading them and then commenting to tell the author you didn't want to read them, you simply don't read them.

I used to get severely harassed by a stalker. I wasn't able to deliver enough proof, so the court went easy on him. I was only able to finally get over it when I heard he had been beaten up by some drunk guys to the point he had to stay in hospital for a long while. Served him right.

Hmm, if you visit forums or even browse through /a/ there's usually some T&B discussion. Fics are kind of a weird thing, because the only places I know to find them are AO3/kink meme/LJ. There's a bunch of crossposting that goes on after people deanon, so that might contribute to people commenting less. And fanart often gets lots of reviews in fandoms anyway.

The kink meme is weird, because I've poked my head in there recently and there's a disparity between the number of fills to prompts. My experience with Part 1 was that it was very active, but Part 2 seems not quite as?

While tumblr is great for T&B reblogs, as someone who prefers LJ/forums the fandom experience isn't really all that limited. I noticed what I find on pixiv, /a/, animesuki, blogs, and LJ are all stuff that shows up at tumblr later on. Even the fanartists on tumblr usually have their own sites or repost here so it's not that bad!
