He's not a bad actor, though. Watch Henry's Crime!

..... Is that your cock? You might want to get it looked at, it looks rather... unfortunately shaped.

*spits out drink* Bwahaha, it looks like a bad Photoshop edit!

That's what I heard too. I didn't get that message at all while watching the video though. But I might just be dense (was the swallowing of the rosary supposed to symbolize...I don't even know...)

[identity profile] saturnonjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
aight since you went and replied to like every other unanswered comment of mine I'll give you a response. this book i'm reading sux :U

herp derp so it's ok to 'defile' straight characters?? do you feel the same about gay characters being turned straight for the purpose of a fic or whatever? i don't much like that either and i'd SURE hope you don't take the 'HETEROSEXUALS HAVE IT SO EASY SO ANY NEGATIVITY TOWARDS THEM IS TOTALLY JUSTIFIED' because if that's the case, well, heterophobia LIVES.
srsly i don't like any character being rewritten so someone can get their nasty little rocks off. if you think it's alright for only straight characters then you're obviously a tool with no sense of equality. if you agree that it's fine to change a gay character to straight if i want to ship him with a girl then aight, respect up for you for supporting both sides.

i don't think you should go around hooking up with people. to me that's just a dumb waste of time. herp derp sex gotta have it with this random bloke!!! yeap i don't follow that line of 'thinking' if you can even call it such, sorry.
i also think you should be set in your sexuality and not some flip-flop wavering mess but hey, that's just me, maybe it's easier for me to see things that way because i am 101% confident in my heterosexuality. awwww yee men.

MEDIA HATES GAYS yeah ok, that's why there's a gay character on like every abc (family) show these days. it's stupid to think there needs to be a gay character in everything like it's stupid to think there needs to be ETHNICMINORITYHERE in everything. if the shoe fits, wear it, if it doesn't, you're not cinderella you don't get to go to the ball.
just because the SPECIES default is heterosexuality or you couldn't REPRODUCE if you didn't want to get at the opposite sex (test tube babies and stuff aside since that's not biological nor does your sex drive understand you can put your dna in someone else's egg and grow it) doesn't somehow magically make characters on tv bi by default to justify 'it's totes in character still'.

i enjoy a good relationship with quality chemistry and such as much as anyone else. i just.. don't feel the need to twist characters into something they're not, whether for a regular ole fic or for a smutty one.

Yeah, okay. I've got time before my show starts. Did you want to talk about anything specifically, or just your desire for one-sided conversation? 'Cause really, if you're so desperate for social validation that you're asking random people on the internet to talk to you just for the sake of acknowledging your presence, you might want to find a shrink.

[identity profile] magnetic-regina.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Erasure might be a too strong word for it but fandom definitely focuses on men and their stories over women. I'm not saying that slash is the only way that fandom does it or that all slash does this (in my original comment it was specifically about the slashing of m/m exclusively).

And yeah, part of it is that the show/book/etc. in the first place will have male man character/cast made up of mostly men but even in that case you'll see fans taking up minor male characters and rounding them out rather than a minor female character. Canons with significant female characters do tend to be much better about including women in fanworks but idk it seems to be a bit of a cycle? Like there's a small female presence in show -> the fandom focuses on the male characters -> people assume that fans don't want to see/enjoy female characters.

Scrubs. Don't recall the ep title, but there was a scene where the Janitor fed Kelso a slice of cake in a very sexualized fashion followed by Jordan, who had been watching, making a transparent excuse to leave to go indulge in a little, uh, "self-stimulation". I remember it because of how unusual it was.

[identity profile] philstar22.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of agree. I like Snape as he is: a very not nice guy. My issue with book!Snape is that we are supposed to accept him as a good guy as if the good things he did (for the wrong reasons considering his feelings for Lily involve stalking behavior and wanting her husband and son dead so he could be with her) absolves him of his horrible actions and that somehow Harry would name his kid after him. In some ways, I prefer movie!Snape because I can accept movie!Snape as a very flawed flawed but ultimately good guy.

[identity profile] saturnonjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
YO i can tell you love tolerance

rage on hypocrite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
As soon as I ready that "played for laughs" line, I immediately thought of that fucking stupid scene in Goblet of Fire where Ron and Harry are discussing who they are going to ask to the Ball in class, and Snape keeps casually hitting them over the head. And it's played for laughs! Oh har har, Snape is physically assaulting the students. The hilarity! /s

Which would make this a comparison of situations based on the differences in how people of different sex are treated and judged in society.

I think anon probably knew what OP meant and was saying that it goes both ways.

Like a bisexual.

..... too easy. Sorry.

[identity profile] saturnonjupiter.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
i think this is a prime example of 'over your head'

it's ok sweetie not everyone can be clued in :C

[identity profile] magnetic-regina.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Just because I want something doesn't mean I'm going to start demanding that people "satisfy my needs." Expressing my opinion does =/= demanding you stop writing what you enjoy.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
the person i'm responding to is so full of himself and his "omg it's double standards to point out women are oppressed, you horrible feminazis" bs that he is honestly not worth the effort of actual discussion

hth

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, this.

It's a Mortal Kombat game. If you want to take it seriously, you're doing it wrong.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
reply to this

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I never got the impression they were dressed like that to look sexy, tbh. I thought they were supposed to look creepy and over the top. One, because it's Mortal Kombat game and everything is over the top in those. And two, because Shao Kahn is a disgusting excuse for a human being who forces the women around him to dress like slaves.

I'm not entirely sure what this secret is trying to say

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Why do people judge others for shipping nothing but M/M? Not every woman in fandom is bi, some are straight."

Straight girls only ship m/m? Only bi girls ship M/F or F/F?
I don't get it. ._.;

[identity profile] lipstickcrisis.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
There really aren't all that many shows with homosexual/bi characters though. Sure, there are plenty, and some are interesting. Generally I am extremely bored by shows with a ~theme~ of homosexuality, if you will. If all femslash was Willow/Tara and whoever the characters of The L Word are, I think I'd shoot myself. I mean no offense to people who enjoy those shows/characters, but I'm just not interested.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
plenty of men are perfectly comfortable with putting 'feminazi bitches' in their place by calling them all sorts of misogynist terms and basically being condescending hateful dicks, like this guy is doing.

however, i think davidshephard is one of those notorious internet tough guys that spends all his time on the internet trying to convince himself of his badassitude and superiority to women. which is better than acting that way in real life, but not by much.

[identity profile] robintheshrew.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. It's a curse, but I will always love assholes :(

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen this. What I *have* seen is attitudes like one posted on this very comm a couple months ago - a woman posting how she wished she had been a male because m/m slash fiction had convinced her that as a woman, she could never find as pure and beautiful a love as that between two men.
